Does that kernel work "better" than the LinuxCNC-produced version of the kernel?
The "official" way to install LinuxCNC on the Pi is described in the LinuxCNC docs, but if that does not work that means I have further work to do.

The jury is still out, I hope to do a machine test tomorrow or Thursday.
For 2.8 it is probably best to stick with what you have now as the buildbot rpi builds are 32 bit.

I am finding that this is not as simple as I hoped.
While asking the chap who built the kernel for help, he seemed puzzled that I wasn't using his pre-built SD card images (because I didn't know they existed)
zaphod.unpythonic.net/pi/
preempt and linuxcnc on an image, all ready to go.

Probably not yet, the plan is to set it up with 2.8 and serve it from www.linuxcnc.org

That image is set up with a default "linuxcnc" username.
