Machine controls greyed out was created by paulstenlund
Hello
The pc controlling my router died (12yrs, - pretty good run), replaced it, loaded Linuxcnc, now my machine controls are greyed ott.
I suspect my parallel port . How do I configure it in linux? or what else could it be?
Thanks
Paul

Could be parallel port does not have pull up resistors, but first, does the machine have an E-Stop ?

Don't know how to take a screenshot in Linux. The machine controls are greyed out from:
toggle machine power
to
Stop
Paul

On Debian, there is a "take screenshot" menu item in "accessories"
On Mint just press the "prnt scrn" button on the keyboard.

The screenshot didn't quite work, when you click shoot it closes the pull down machine menu, so you get the Linux main screen, but the top half of the "Machine " menu is greyed out

This sounds like e-stop is active.
Perhaps the new parallel port has a different default pin state. Or perhaps it simply hasn't been found.

Can you attach the HAL file so we can see your e-stop net?

don't know how to print/capture the hall file. I can go to HAL config and look at the settings, where do I find e-stop?
