Ok, I'm back. I just can't deal with complicated linux commands at my age. Can any one give me a link to a card that will work for sure?

Thanks much
Paul

Does 7010 have PCI or only PCI-E slots?
For PCI ones, i had several types, all of them used MosChip/NetMos chipsets and all of them worked (and still are working) with LinuxCNC.
No PCI-E so far, mainly couse i could not find them here.

Yes, but the shipping will cost me 65 Euro !!!
I am in Kosovo, our postal service was bought by Deutche Post a while back, they gave up and just plain left it, bikes and cars and vans also!
The only thing that works properly in that regard is DHL, post office is hit-and-miss with receiving stuff and just refuse to ship anything abroad from here.

If I was looking on Amazon then I would probably try:
www.amazon.co.uk/Controller-IEEE1284-Par...ATIBLE/dp/B0010V7K8S

Avoid any where the main chip is small and low down, those tend to be using a general purpose chip that needs a driver at boot-time to become a parallel port. And the driver is Windows-only.

Or: Get a 5i25 which is better than a Parallel port card, and will definitely work.

I think that you can ignore the message about parport1 if you are using parport0 (you probaly are).

It's a slightly spurious message from a part of the system that we don't directly control, if I recall correctly.

What are the other error messages?
