To add to the missing 'lspci' thingy
I've just found your thread on PCI cards, and I have that generic Chinese item that doesn't work.

Try
loadrt hal_parport cfg="0x378 out 0x037b out"
in the hal file.
If LinuxCNC starts, all is good.

I've ordered two PCI cards with the MOSCHIP chip set. That will sort out that issue, and tomorrow I'll upload the 'pciutils', but for now I've just fitted a quiet silencer and throttle restrictor to my little girls motorbike bike and we are going to get a few practice laps in around the garden ready for when the sun comes out and she can ride with Daddy at the track

Too late, but by the time you are ordering two parallel port cards you should probably be ordering one 5i25 / 6i25 card as that does all that two parport cards do, and _so_ much more. Plus they always work.

Too late, but by the time you are ordering two parallel port cards you should probably be ordering one 5i25 / 6i25 card as that does all that two parport cards do, and _so_ much more. Plus they always work.
