Software not talking to hardware. New build

I'm just lost... watched a ton of video's still can't figure out

This is a little parallel port tester done with pyVCP.

The files

upload:ptest.xml

upload:ptest.hal

To run this place both files in the same directory and open a terminal window and use the command

halrun -I -f ptest.hal

upload:ptest-final.png

You can push the output buttons and change the state of each output. When you toggle an input it shows up on the screen.

Parallel port tester is included with LinuxCNC as has been pointed out several times on this OR another 2 topics with the same issues regarding parallel ports, it can be found in the menu >CNC>LinuxCNC> this opens "configuration selector", click on left >sample configs>apps>parport>parport_0x378 <<<<for the onboard/built in port.
Also on the right hand side there are infos on how to check for ports and how to find their addresses.

I did that and got this

That should be the address entered in hal or in stepconf, if that does not work try 0xd013 but after a reboot, some port get stuck when accessed on the wrong address.
Another thing to keep in mind with add on cards, the address might change at random when booting the PC. That is due to automatic assignment of resources on the PC at boot time, so if at any point the port starts working, check the address.
