Update the firmware according to your instructions:
sudo mesaflash --device 5i25 --write 5i25_7i76x2_2pd.bit --reload
Everything went well without any errors.
In PNCconf the option to change a step generator for a PWM generator is disabled. Am I doing something wrong or do I have to change something in the hal file manually.

Unless pncconf specifically supports that firmware,
You will have to setup the PWMgen by hand in the hal file.

Hi Peter,
I'm busy with a similar application for a second spindle on a machine. I bought a PWM to voltage converter, I used stepgen.04, loaded the firmware, all good. So I followed your instructions given above, and have it working to 1500rpm. The maximum speed of this spindle is 3000rpm, but I need to do some scaling.
My current pwmgen.scale is setp to 2520. When I run command at 1500RPM, the actual RPM is 1500... My output voltage from the pwm to voltage converter unit is 3.97v. But, ...:
2400rpm command gives 8.6v, and actual spindle speed = 3000rpm.
1000rpm command gives me 1.65v, actual spindle speed = 600rpm
700rpm command gives me 0.337v, and actual spindle speed = 120rpm.
under that the spindle stops. Unfortunately I don't have any documentation available on this drive.
It's a XMT_Driver_1500. I think it's a seig product. But I don't think there's a way to adjust parameters for a minimum speed command and maximum speed command value.
If there's a way to scale my PWMgen output to such a way to say the value currently written for 700rpm should actually be 100rpm, and max value, the command currently written for 2400rpm should actually be 3000 rpm. I'm a bit lost for ideas here... not sure if there's a component available to manipulate this? Or should I just write my own component to do this? And increment it by 100rpm?
What would you do in this situation?

Not sure why the output voltage is so non-linear, but you might first try
lowering the PWM frequency to say 1 KHz.

If that does not give enough improvement you might consider using the
lincurve component.
