need help identifying/updating/documenting CNC mill was created by tater1337
breaking off from
here
our makerspace has a Grizzly G8689 Mini Milling machine converted to CNC and running linuxCNC AXIS 2.7.7
on debian wheezy 7.11 with XFCE desktop 4.8
cannot update due to 404 errors
using an parallel (?) controller
Id like to identify all components, get the updater to work correctly, and to future proof the unit better
this is at a makerspace, and we would like to add this to the machines that we can show off and impress potential members with

This one uses a cheap chinese "all in one" board with TB6560 or TB6600 stepper drives.
Nothing special, configs can be copied over, new config is easy to make.

think I should switch it to a mesa board so we only have one type of interface to fight with between this and the lathe? have nto shopped for it yet, and yes, your argument about "if it works, why mess with it" is noted and is seriously being consideredThis one uses a cheap chinese "all in one" board with TB6560 or TB6600 stepper drives.

which configs?
I finally got linux installed, and have it now set up that the old drive is available but unmounted (double click and pw to mount) so copying can be done easily (fingers crossed), having one of the machine users tonight observe so we can test after setup is finished and we can have dialogs like "this isn't doing X correctly" or "where are my files from the old machine"
knee jerk was to post reply here, will be searching the rest of forum this morning to see if there is a answer to this
(EDIT: printing out your reply in the original original post about both mill and lathe id and update. makes sense to me and will be doing that tonight)
