And of course, if you test them and they're working... that's valuable information if you decide to sell them.
The trick will be getting a cable with that hairball DB7 pinout. I just found one for $50 on fleabay... but it's a short "Y" adapter cable with a circular connector for the DC bus and a regular DB7 for the RS232 pins.
$50 to test the servos worth it to you?

The "hairball DB7" is actually a D-Sub 7 pins mixed signal 5+2 (aka combination signals) This is not as hard to find as it seems and not that expensive.
The thing is those connectors are often sold without the pins/sockets for the power signal that need to be bought separately, according to the size of the wire you want to use. This being said, here is one example that come with all the pins and is about $12 each: www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/norco...0M7W2203L401/4311818 You will of course have to build your own cable but this should be doable for anyone who want to build his own cnc machine (hopefully)
As for the other smaller square connectors I would bet those are compatible with TE Ampmodu. Such as this one for the 7 pins: www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/te-co...tors/104257-6/298805 Note that the 7 required female "plugs" are sold separately and can be tricky to use if you don't have the (special) crimping tool.

I've seen plenty of servo circular connectors with combined power & signal, but not DB's.
I learn something new every day, thank you.

Thanks for the help here. Yeah the motors were bought cheap without much direction at that time. I like your plan to buy some thing else. I finally put brakes on this project when I saw the SMNC software had no backlash comp and limited to run in Windows. Plus the $700.+ price tag made me come here to ask. This forum has become stronger since I started this machine over 10 years ago. Now I am getting to the part that requires less brawn. Thanks again for your input I will listen to your advice.

Thanks for that. I bought a new set of daisy chain cables from motion industries and now I have that and a open frame power supply, a shunt and the usb to rs232 cable. wow I am overkill in the race to broke. Ha Ha I can only laugh now. It is what I get for not checking what is up. Thank you for your help. Yes this stuff will be fun to test and maybe find some value coming back later. At least they are un-used and may be needed as replacements.

Thanks for all the help from this forum about Moog smart motors. I am listening to all the advice and I have plenty of hope for my project now. I think with all said here I will use these motors to just test and sell later. Thanks for taking time to answer many questions and send me in the right direction. Any progress I make with the Moog motors I can try to post later. For now I am going to get a closed loop stepper solution, a Mesa card and get some beer also. All the post are great!!

Just search for "5W2 d-sub", for example:And good luck finding the correct DB7-ish connector with the two big DC bus terminals.

Hey thanks for the link. I have a set of cables for all the setup. I decided to really listen and put this control back on the shelf for a bit. I am going to use closed loop steppers just to avoid the testing and get more familar with linuxcnc. Using the open frame moog power supply and slated cabinet on steppers. Later I can build a smaller frame mill with the moog motors using the stepper machine. over kill my office with testing and check this place more for info. This is a great place I will be back!!
