Servo interface was created by eslavko
Hello...

I plan to retrofit CNC spot welder.
I intend to strip out all old computer stuff down to servo amplifiers.
It has XYAA servo motors with analog servo amplifiers. So I need 4x +-10V DAC with enable, and 4x encoder inputs, with few spare IOs
I look to what hardware to use and seems that 7I97 can do all the job needed.
Or in alternative 7I77 and one of (5I25/6i25/7I80DB-16).

But when came to order I found that all this stuff is out of order.
(actually the one piece of 7I97 is available, but I want to have spare board)

So is there some other options that are in stock?

I prefer EU shops.

Maybe the 5i24 + 7i33 option?

Both seem to be in stack at eusurplus

Isn't PCI pretty out of date. Finding (NEW) computer with PCI isn't easy here.
And I'm afraid that with this wide ribbon cables I will catch a lot of EMI here. The spot welder has 8kA current! And this setup doesn't have any IO. So another daughter card (and ribbon connecting) is needed.
This was reason why I prefer 7I97 (ethernet/ isolated ground, single card needed). Is there some other alternative (doesn't need to be mesa card).

Is the 7i80DB-25 + 7i77 good option?

The DB25 connection can be just few centimetes long, so low EMI sesitive?

Yeah but the 6i24 is not in stock.
You can also use 6i25 + 7i77 depending if you prefer an internal card or one connected via Ethernet.

I prefer over ethernet.
The 7i80DB and 7I77 seems available but in Pnconf I can't find option to use it as servo. Only stepper mode is available.

7i96S plus 7i77 or another analog card, 7i96S can still be found, it is ethernet and step/dir, but has an expansion port and a sserial.

Something is wrong, 7i80 -> 7i77 definitively work as servo. Many are using this here.
Also, you can use 7i94 (instead of 7i92 or 7i80) you will have only 1 single 25 pins expansion (for the 7i77) but also 8 smart serial (sserial). I think this is the mostly available card out of the three.

7I77 seems to be good options for 4x servo I needed and few IO/s. They need additional board like:
7i80DB should work in paper but seems that pnconf doesn't support that board for servo!
7i94 have only one 25pin connector and bunch of Rjs (didn't check if supported by pnconf yet)
7i92 out of stock

will check compatibility with pnconf at home. Here in work I don't have linuxcnc installed.

I did quick install LinuxCNC 2.8.4 Debian 10 Buster PREEMPT-RT ISO into virtualBox just to see if I can config that stuff.
In the Pnconf the 7I80 DB and HD are available, but 7I94 are not.

Now for 7I80DB only 7I76x2 firmware are available, and PWM for servo can't be set.
But 7i80HD have many firmware available (SV12 as default) and servo are available.

As only 7i80DB are on stock, how to configure that if 7i80DB->7i77 can work at all.
Custom firmware and all work to do manually?
