Linuxcnc ferror errors was created by kodidavis29
Okay guys I’m in some need of some frustration relief,I’m no stranger to LinuxCNC been using it for over 8 years without any hiccups and I mainly have always used AXIS and I have built now 12 machines with all very similar Linux 2.8 builds well I just upgraded my personal machine to 2.9.opre and I upgraded my optiplex to a gk41.. I figured since I was upgrading I’d give GMOCCAPY a shot as I have been wanting to use a touch screen so I loaded everything up built my config got it all tuned and I have been having nothing but issues with ferror errors which this is same values I have been running for years on this hardware I’m wondering if the PC is the issue I have isolated core 3 and that seemed to make the whole system run a little smother but I’m at my wits end I’m running mesa 7I96 and dm556 drivers everything is isolated shielded interference isn’t my issue. Anyone have any idea where I should go is it a GMOCCAPY isssue with the gk41 also my latency test shows 103400 and I set it at 110000 so I feel that can’t be much of the issue but I could be wrong.  I just need a reliable setup and I had it so I’m hoping I don’t just have to roll everything back as I’d like to take advantage of the newer stuff  Mind you I run 7-8 hour programs mainly cutting aluminum and the programs are on the very large side profile ramping etc.

What did you set to 110000?

Change in ini file:
STEPGEN_MAXVEL = MAX_VELOCITY * 2
STEPGEN_MAXACCEL = MAX_ACCELERATION * 2

This helped me and minimal 3 friends.

I spent a lot of time to verify it. Unfortunately I can't prove it:
forum.linuxcnc.org/27-driver-boards/4704...axaccel-from-pncconf
Halscope is not my friend.

Then give us feedback if it helped.

If you are using a 7i96 you don't need a base thread.
103,000 isn't great latency, but shouldn't be a problem with a Mesa card.
110,000 would be a very fast _servo_ thread, though. Can you attach the HAL and INI?

I've added the INI and HAL I temporarily switched to axis to test and the machine is running but the Y axis which is dual stepper driven is shaky which is odd as I haven't seen this before I pulled a controller and box off my other CNC and it moved the machine without issue so that leads me to believe its something to do with this PC or my config as the other controller box is using a optiplex 980 and 7i96 and very similar configuration.

Can you post the problematic hal/ini files

EDIT if these are the same as originally posted, I'm not sure how you get a
following error without completely losing communication since the ferror limits
are quire large (as 100 ms of lost communications would be needed to get a 0.5"
FE at 5 IPS)

It may also be a latency issue (which may have to do with BIOS setup)

Dumping all the tmax values from both systems would be helpful here:

halcmd show param *.tmax

(after LinuxCNC has been running a few minutes)
