Esab Sabre 2000 Retrofit to QtplasmaC was created by fabric8r
Hello, I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right Spot or not. If not please let me know. I Have an older Esab Sabre 2000 with an outdated Vision Control on it. I was told something was wrong with the control when I bought it. I would like to upgrade this to using QtplasmaC. This is a Big heavy machine. Id like to use the original servos and gear boxes if possible. Thats only if there Good for this build. if Not I will replace. I want this to be Servo driven.
I saw another Thread on here titled " Esab Ultrarex UXD-P2000 upgrade project"
I'm not sure if this machine is similar to mine or not?
I"m Hoping to find someone who can help me with what I will need to complete this Retrofit. Any and All help would be Greatley appreciated.
Thanks, Scott

Here are a few pictures of the bed of the cnc plasma before I cut it in 4 pieces, to move it. The second and 3rd pic's are The Z axis motor. and the last 2 pics are the X and Y axis motors. Would anyone be able to tell me if these motors will be good to use or should I change the motors. If these are good motors? what drives would be recommended? I can't tell what typ of motors these are AC or DC "rock out"
?
If these motors are not good candidates. I was Looking at the Dmm AC servo motors and DYN4 drives.

Brushed DC motors.
Encoders are rusted badly, open the lids and check the sloted disc, if there is rust they should be replaced.

I opened them up and they look very clean on the inside, Surprisingly. Do you think id be happy with the performance of these motors? or would you recommended starting fresh with something better? either way im gonna need new drivers so I could go either way.
