Power Feed (on steroids) was created by rthorntn
Hi,
I just picked up a round column mill and I want to have a power feed on steroids, is something like this available in LinuxCNC, a headless MCU, basically a stepper with driver moving my X and Y, plugged into an MCU in the back of an MPG pendant.
Basically a computer controlled power feed, you can set axis and move it with the jog encoder or you can set a direction, speed, distance on a small keypad (also a setting for single cuts that would need XY moves, angles and arcs would be cool). I could probably build the pendant.
I don't want to run programs as such, something much more lightweight, small footprint, incremental, I already have a CNC running LCNC.
Is a setup like this a thing, if it is, can I assume it could also output coordinates to a seperate (larger) DRO screen and/or be able to support encoder inputs so you could have open/closed position feedback loops?
Cheers
Richard

Simple way would be to just have a normal setup and not use it to load any gcode. You'll find MIDI useful.
What you describe is how I run my mill about 50% of the time. No real need to hack and reduce anything.
Oh BTW mate good to see you here, if you still have my contact details from when you were sorting your router out give us a shout out. Not so busy now

I had to back the velocity and acceleration off!
If you installed QTdragon, you could use its conversational mode...
