pncconf problems

I'm having some trouble with pncconf. First I can't get the pwm generator box to work on the configuration page. I can type a number in but it always goes back to zero........not sure if this matters but it concerns me a little. Also, I can only do the open servo test on the y-axis. The other two won't move the servos at all. any suggestions?

It seems to work for me if I chose:

Board Name = "5i25-Internal data" and
Firmware: = "7i77x2 With One 7I77"
on the "Mesa Card 0" page and then hit the "Accept components changes" button

All 6 PWMs (well actually analog output) channels are then available
for assignment on the "Smart Serial 1" tab

I'm pretty sure that's how its set up now. Can't remember if its' smart serial 1 tab but i can definitely choose pwmgens on one of the tabs(I just chose the top 3 for a 3 axis system)?? Only getting open loop servo test to run on y-axis. Should I choose all 6?

You could re-try and go through the steps I outlined above
to get the open loop test to work you probably have to complete
the configuration (assign the encoders on the I/O connector 3 tab)
and finish the X,Y,Z configuration

I'm fairly confident that I have been doing that several times but I'll try it again tomorrow to make sure. I keep feeling like something is wrong in the background because it won't let me choose pwm's on the configuration tab(stays at zero). And when I try to do the open loop test on x and z there is no address(hal pin/attachment) shown on the little hal window. Could pncconf be writing the code a little "off" and I need to hand edit?

There are no PWMs in the base config so 0 is correct

You can always hand edit the hal and ini files that pncconf creates

Still doing the same thing. I've worked on the hal file some(attached) still only y-axis will respond to open loop test. Working on learning how hal works now. Also I haven't been able to get a file from pncconf that will start linuxcnc. Are there certain things that will keep it from starting a config. jt's file starts linuxcnc but I have no servo response.

If you launch linuxcnc from a terminal it will typically say which line in the hal file caused an error
you can go back and look at that line in and editor to try and figure out whats wrong

(you can also look at the kernel log printed by the dmesg command)

That's much better. Linuxcnc starts up now but I get no servo power. Can the open loop test be run outside of pncconf?
