For the Benezan "Triple Beast" a charge pump signal is needed on pin 16
so this likely needs to be disabled to get things moving.
I would go through the trouble shooting in the Benezan manual
Ultimately, to get the charge pump to work may require custom firmware
to generate the 5-100 KHZ chargepump signal on pin 16 without
requiring a base thread or other tricks
so this likely needs to be disabled to get things moving.

Ok,
I don't really understand the charge pump affect but its worth a try to get things moving.
And if it means custom firmware then so be it.
Thanks for your assistance so far.

Charge pump...
wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?About_Charge_Pumps
Normally a signal to activate the drivers, confirming that linuxcnc and the computer are up and running to avoid movement if there is a problem.
Often the hardware will have a setting or jumper to enable or disable this behavior. So you could disable the chargepump action in the hardware for testing.

Ok,
That make sense.
Thanks Rick.

Peter,
Can you show me how to create firmware.

Is there no option to disable the charge pump requirement? Building a custom FPGA firmware is quite a task, and PNCConf won't know how to use that firmware.
You probably just need to move a jumper on the BoB.

If the hardware is indeed a Benezan Beast, there is such a jumper
( The Benezan manual describes it and has a nice trouble-shooting chart )

Peter,
I took a photo.
No jumpers.
Only toggles for current on the stepper outputs, micro stepping and spindle setting.
The only way around that I can think of is to artificially create a charge pump signal from an external source.
Any ideas.

Oz

What actual hardware do you have?
