[quote="Jan Weber" post=106345that is exactly what I am going to to. I reflashed the 5i25 to the 7i76x2 firmware and get my machine running so far. When everything works fine, I´ll try to add the linear encoders.[/quote]
There is no need to flash back to the 7i76x2, you should probably use the 7i76_7i85 (you can just lie to PnCConf, it doesn't know)
You can then connect the 7i85 and wire it up to the EXE box and check that the positions all look right in HAL (everything should work, but LinuxCNC simply won't be using the data at this point).
Once you see very similar numbers from the scales and from the motor encoders, then you can try switching over to use the scales for feedback.
(The best configuration might end up with a velocity-mode PID using the motor encoders that is controlled by a separate position-mode PID using the glass scales)

Hi Andy,
I didn´t know that there is no need to reflash the 5i25. So I will try to do it the way you described.

Hi Chris,
I took a photo of my screen after the --sserial command. The 7i76 connected to P3 is shown, but the 7i85 (P2) isn´t. Is that because of it is a passive device? The Firmware of the 5i25 is flashed to 5i25_7i76_7i85.bit. I tried it the way Andy described. I told pncconf that only one 7i76 is connected and at least the axes move fine. Next step will be to connect the EXE boxes and analyze the data taken with the HAL scope.

Yes, the 7i85 is passive so won't show. The IO and encoders (etc) will all show up as 5i25 pins.

Pncconf has not been modified to support what the 7i85 needs.

i try this command to update the firmware (for future 7i85S). i have used this command in this order:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install mesaflash
sudo mesaflash --device 5i25 --write 5i25_7i76_7i85s.bit
but when i do sudo mesaflash --device 5i25 --reload terminal tell me "Active firmware too old to support --reload"
