Do you have the manual?

www.mesanet.com/pdf/parallel/7i43man.pdf

I think pin 1 is labelled on the silkscreen.

The mesa 7i43 is a very powerful board but it needs to be loaded with firmware before it can do anything. It is like a computer that is useless until you load an operating system. Mesa have firmware files and pinout files available for download and the emc2 install has firmware to let the mesa board work with emc2. It is stored around /usr/share/doc/emc2

The firmwares should all be in /lib/firmware/hm2/7i43 on any recent install.

hey John I wonder if adding something like these connector pin-out pics to the manual would be good?

Chris,

If it is in the Mesa manual that should suffice... I sound like Jeff now lol. Anyhow for Mesa specific things like how to plug it in users should refer to the Mesa manual.

They are not in the mesa manual. Actually it took quite a bit to confirm these diagrams were correct on the net too.
