Ok, I placed it in the appropriate place and added at DISPLAY = mocca line to the configuration file. Now when I run EMC i get the splash screen and then the error log pops up. Here is what I think is the relevant information from it:

Hal component "mocca" loaded.
could not open: /home/john/emc2/configs/Sherline4Axis/mocmdi.txt
Canon Offsets: 0.00 0.00
Shutting down and cleaning up EMC2...

I can send you the entire log file if you need it but I really did not want to clog up the forum with it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am running EMC 2.3.5 on a Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron system loaded from the Live CD.

John, when you have a large file like that then use pastebin.ca or similar and just post the link.

HI
First I like your new gui.... but I have a problem.
On two "test" machines it runs perfect.

On my productive machine I get only a error-printout.
Same happens to a second, new machine. I'm setting up for a friend who only talks german... what was no more a problem with mocca ;-()

I attache the error log. as fare as I can understand i claims a problem with X-server ???

Could you give me a hint please

Mike

Thought that the latest binary was compiled with the x-error fixed... !?
i will take a look at it tomorrow,

mocca its on its way, spend some weeks in the "design" stuff.
So far the new version works fine, still some fixes to do.

The new version will be totaly "designable", similar to Mach3 the user can
move the buttons, controls, labels etc, set the colors, hide controls etc...
Also all buttons can show Bitmaps and the "MainForm" (Mainwindow) can use
a background- picture where you can place your controls on.
There will be about 10 OEM- Labels, Buttons & LEDs,
The user can modify the main window location & size,
even start mocca in a real fullscreen mode without any border around...

THX for the responses

gtom
I'm looking forward to that release.
Honestly I did not understand why my version crashes but ....
Is it somehow related to the video card???
I ask as I'm using normal ( 8.4 Ubuntu with EMC iso) and than run updates only-

I don't think that missing file is a problem...
I inserted one, no changes. I also guess that a running mocca is creating that file.

Ok, I just did a fresh install of EMC2 from the live CD and cannot get mocca to run.

I get the following message:

mocca: symbol lookup error: mocca: undefined symbol: _rs274ngc_errors

What do I need to do to fix this problem?

Thanks
