I thought about building it, but decided not to bother.
It was actually designed to be relatively easy to machine, as the working part is mainly a circle of plain drilled holes and off-the-shelf ground pins.

Same working principle as harmonic drive, but pins instead of gears.
Harmonic drives have that cross-roller bearing that make them stiff, yet easy to rotate. A compact DIY should have that as well. SHG-type hd are on ebay for 300-400 usd/eur. To make it really compact one has to work with the motor, that's the big benefit of FHA I guess. It is already done.

I joined teams in Fusion 360, maybe that caused the link to fail. I've updated the link now, please try again.

if someone has interest, here is the link to a Hypocycloid gear calculator. The only downside is you need visual Studio for it to run:
github.com/dsuarezv/GearSolver
It outputs DXF files

Nice. I can see myself offering-up my spare harmonic drive mounting casting to my existing A axis tonight, and seeing if there are any more FHA drives on eBay.

No, I had them cast for me by a commercial foundry.
