Need help to configure my 2M982 microstepping driver. was created by atipix
Hello,
Please need some help to configure my 2M982 microstepping driver with Wantai Stepper Motor Nema 23 - WT57STH115-4204A.
First the dip switchs...
The current of the motors is 4.2A so how do I should put the 3 first dip switch to avoid my motor to overheat?
The SW4 I'm not sure about it, should I leave it in OFF position?
And for the microstepping settings what should be good, actualy I've got 800, is it enought to have good results?
My actual settings are these:
SW1: 1
SW2: 1
SW3: 0
SW4: 1
SW5: 1
SW6: 1
SW7: 0
SW8: 0
Another problem is the step time, step space, direction hold and direction setup configuration.
The pulse low level time of the 2M982 is 2.5 microseconds so I multiply by 1000 for the direction time and space.
For the direction hold and setup I copy the settings from the leadshine MA860H that specification close to my 2M982 but I'm not sure at all.
My actual configuration is:
Step time: 2500
Step space: 2500
Direction Hold: 8000
Direction setup 5000
Someone has a similar configuration that work well that could help me or give some advices.
Big thanks,
Brian

Try 110 for the DIP switches, consider going up a step if the motor stays at a reasonable temperature. (and stepper motors are expected to get quite hot)
Try 5000 for step space and step length, you are unlikely to hit any speed limits at that, and it is pretty much certain to work.
