Greyed out F2 on the axis screen machine not on was created by johnmc1
Good Day all,
I am trying to convert a Matsuura Mill to Linuxcnc .
But have not been able to enable the f2 button.
I have checked that there is no over travel on any axis.
The machine enable pin is always false .
None of the inputs are updating even though the LEDS on the mesa cards light up,
I assume this is caused by the greyed out F2 button.
On My Mazak lathe fitted with a 5i20 card the F2 button always light's up.
Any help with the problem will be most appreciated.
The attached files are ,Hal file Ini file and mesa 5i24 pin out
Cheers john

I am not sure if the backtrace shown is generated from the HAL that is presented.
It seems to be using "thread1" for the realtime thread whereas the HAL loads motmod and would be using "servo-thread."
In any case, the symptoms sound like the realtime thread is not being started.

Thanks Andy for your reply,
From the hal machine thread list, all the servo threads are
shown to be there.
Also is there a very basic config files that can be loaded?
I have also tried with new config file generated by pncconf using 5i23 then cut and past for the 5i24 mesa card
I tried the sample sim axis min xyz config, but alias still greyed out F2 button.
On my lathe I loaded a incorret (different) machine config file and it also showed the
greyed F2 button.
I have been at this problem for many days ,maybe there is some other option's
that I could try.
Many thanks and cheers john

If F2 is greyed out, then it (typically) means that e-stop is active.
I see that you have the other end of the estop-ext net commented out.
Is that deliberate? What is the value on hm2_5i24.0.7i70.0.0.input-21?
If you look at iocontrol.0.emc-enable-in with Halmeter, is it true or false?
linuxcnc.org/docs/html/man/man1/iocontrol.1.html

Good Day Andy.
Thanks for your reply ,
"If F2 is greyed out, then it (typically) means that e-stop is active."
The problem was, as you stated with the emergency button.
The button was not wired correctly, also the input, hm2_5i24.0.7i70.0.0.input-21 which also had to be inverted.
While the many days trying to correct the problem were frustrating , the up side is a little has been
learned ,and with patience, the manual and the forum who knows what will be achieved.
Many thanks
Cheers john

Sorry for not mentioning it earlier, I just rather assumed it was the first thing that would have been checked. It was only later that I realised that with a new install you might not know what to expect from the buttons.
