I've had in mind to do this for a long time. But here is a tutorial about how to start with a Mesa 7i76e

It covers all the basics:

Power connection,
Mesa IP address config
Connecting inputs - mechanical and proximity sensors
Connecting relays and triggering them with M3/M4 and M64/M65

There is still more to come.... but I thought 50 minutes was long enough. :)

But if you are just starting out, it will be the best 50 minutes you'll ever spend!

Can you include a reference/URL to the (Norbert ?) connection diagram you mentioned?
Thanks

Fantastic introduction!

I have been foundering a bit as I have no experience with any of this electronics stuff and your video has provided some key fundamental insight. A question or two if I may... I think I understand that I can signal the turning on/off of 110V peripheral device such as a shop-vac using one of those electromagnetic power relays, correct? Question is, what size/type fly-back diode to be used? Are they sized for particular load (amps?).

Much appreciated.

Darryl

An IN4007 is all you need. The IN400X series basically just have different voltage ratings so 1000V should be enough!
