Quick question peeps
I have PNP NO proximity sensors that I am putting on my new 4’x4’ Cnc plasma build. How are these wired to Mesa 7i96 my old build I had NPN.
Thanks for the help

How do you have the input of your 7i96 setup? What is wired to your TB3 Pin 12?
Ideally you want this pin grounded to your 24v power source (assuming thats what you are using). The common pin out on proximity sensors is Brown+, Blue- and Black is signal. The black should go high when tripped so it needs to plug into TB3 Input Pin 1-11.

V+ out of meanwell ps is going to common pin TB3 12
Blue -> common on power supply
Brown -> v+ Power supply
Black -> tb3 input 1

Thats not going to work. Are you dead set on sourcing input? That is running V+ to TB3 12? the best practice for PNP NO will be to have V- to TB3 12 and wired as you just described.

No , not dead set , just want to make it work. What’s your recommendation again ?

Yes that was a typo up there, it's fixed.
This should be how you wire them:
V- out of meanwell ps is going to common pin TB3 12
Blue -> common on power supply
Brown -> v+ Power supply
Black -> tb3 input 1
This will cause the input to be on when the sensor is triggered. And if they are not triggered or the wire shorts then they do not activate. That is why it's preferred to use PNP NO sensors. They won't show active if they short out. Technically the 7i96 can run either but all of the inputs have to be the same way.
If you plan on running any other input into the 7i96 and have it wired the way I just mentioned then it would need to follow this simple switch example.
+V of ps => switch+ => switch- => 7i96 input pin

is there away to wire proximity senors to use the mesa 7i96 own output power, to avoid having to used an additional power supply?

Yes that shouldn't be a problem as long as the sensors run on 5v

How would one go about that way, I do have 5v proximity sensors. Thanks again for the help
