Hello Rod,
After building my first 4x4 Cnc plasma table . I felt confident in building a second one for a family member. Everything is the same except that on my first table I used the LJ18A3-8-Z/BX 3-wire DC 6–36V NPN NO 8MM proximity sensors. On the new table build I used 5V PNP NO , see attachment. so when
I wire up my 5v sensor, the following way,
Blue wire goes to common at 24V mean well power supply
brown wire goes to +V on PS
Black goes to TB3 input 1
I also run a wire from common at power supply to common input on TB3 input pin 11/input 12)
. I do have another set of NPN I might try unless u have any other recommendations
Thanks again.

Why would you buy 5 volt sensors to use with 24 Volts?
You can use your NPN sensors with a 2.2k pullup resistor

It was a selection mistake on the 5V sensors when I place my order. My power supply is dual Voltage. And I have tried both options, still same thing
As for the NPN, I used NPN on my first table I didn’t used a 2.2k pullup resistor And it works just perfectly, any thoughts on that ?

A 7I76E needs PNP sensors (or a pullup resistor if NPN sensors are used)
The 7I96 can use either depending on where the input-common pin is
terminated

Update...
I wired up a 5V NPN NO proximity sensor & did a benches test, it worked, I installed it on my x axis live,& It work. Using 5 volts & 24 Volts they both worked. I even eliminate the external power supply and used the Mesa 7i96 5V power outputs and used the P1 for inputs. So now I will work on my both y axis and z to finish up.
Any idea on the PNP NO sensors not working? I have 10 of them, I hate for them to go to waste.

They will need a resistor wired to the sensor output and gnd of the power supply.
