Encoder issues...
What encoder?
How it is wired to Mesa?
Does it have a shielded and grounded wire?
Is it a differential or single ended encoder?
Is the Mesa set up for differential or single ended?

The spindle.output is set at 300 as shown in the watchlist -so I have to look for it in the hal file it looks like.

It goes to a VFD. As I said - it was working in the other GUI's - just was wacky in Probe Basic.

So my Probe Basic skin thinks it has a maximum spindle speed of 300 rpm (though I get 5000 on the machine itself). I changed the output_scale in the ini file and the speed control is working correctly and proportionally to 5000rpm on the spindle.. I just need to figure out where that 300 is coming from.

I found the 300. It was in this line in my .ini file under the [RS274ngc] section:

RS274NGC_STARTUP_CODE = F10 S300 G20 G17 G40 G49 G54 G64 P0.001 G80 G90 G91.1 G92.1 G94 G97 G98

Changed the s300 to s5000 and all is now good.
