Brilliant Bambu Lab was created by my1987toyota
So their is a lot of buzz around Bambu Lab with their soon to be released firmware for their 3D printers ( X1C for now, the rest later)
where they're starting down the path of closing their echo system and exerting more control of what the printer's owner can or can't
do with the machine they paid for. I myself own an X1C but made sure it couldn't update it's firmware using a temporary router and
loading programs via SD cards.

All one has to do is a search on YouTube to see what's going on. And all under the guise of safety and security of the end consumer.
(Yeah where have I heard that one before.) Hilariously I was looking into building a Voron to deal with future tariffs imposed in the
US. Now it seems like I will be building one because I refuse to put up with being fenced in by obvious cash grabs and money funnels.
( You will own nothing and be happy ) Oh yeah, hold my caliper

It's a shame, I really do like my X1C and have recommended them in the past to those not interested in building and tuning
a 3D printer. Yes I was one of them as well. That said If Bambu Lab wants to continue this course then they can go the way of
the Do-Do. So I guess it's either Prusa or Voron for the masses.

If one would like a Louise Rossman take on it enjoy the below

I saw that.
I’ll just stick with my aging Ender 3.
I can’t even. Can’t make thoughts into engrish.

Bambu can shove it up... :)
Long live VORON, so here is the link to my mods for using the round rails on Y and Z axis, get some hydraulic cylinder rods, some LMUU8 or 10 or 12 and procure a single MGN12 rail and carriage for X, everything else you can easily found. Skip this if you can find all 7 square linear rails required.

Print parts in PETG if you can not do ABS or HIPS (yes HIPS is very good when you get past "it curls more than ABS", it does not), and when finished, print ABS or HIPS and dismantle the printer to change all 3D printed parts.
PETG does yield a bit, so screws become loose with time requiring re-tightening occasionally, but absolutely very usable for several years of daily use.
And a friendly warning, use good flexible cable, the only thing failing on all of my Voron's is the cabling that i had to extend as i can not find good cable here.

Yup. Looks like I have a LOT of printing to do. LOL. I have experience with the PETG compressing when a bolt
is tightened down on with my small RC plane's. has anyone made the Enraged Rabbit mmu filament changer?

Actually tommylight I need your brutally honest opinion. Is their a well recognized 3D printer you would recommend
for those who are just starting out in 3D printing but don't know how to build their own printer. I have only had
direct experience with the Prusa mini and the Bambu X1C. I haven't used any of the other brands.

Hmmmmm... hawing advised my own brother to buy a Bambu about two months ago, i am in a pickle as i still have not told him to cancel it nor did i ask if he did buy it, so i need to make a call.
For now the only viable options remain, depending on budget, Creality stuff, preferably CR versions but they do tend to get in the Prusa price range or more, Prusa, and Creality K1 or K2 or whatever is the latest version of it with multicolor option.
Enders are OK now that Bambu is out, as A1 mini killed them in a single swoop, but resurrection happened! :)
Prusa are a bit pricey, still, but good quality and open source everything
Creality CR versions are much better, had about 11 of those (3X CR10MAX, 2XCR5Pro, CR30, CR6 two color, CR10S V2, some others and Ender 5 Plus, the only issues ever was Ender 5 clogging several times till i changed the hotend, then modified it and made rally fast and abused the poor thing for several years without a hiccup) but they were quite hefty priced, no idea what the situation is now, and the only one still with me is a CR5PRO modified for high temps and klipperised, in use for several years and had a broken motor cable on it once.
-
-200$ Ender
-500$ Prusa or K1
>500$ K2 with or without multicolor
And do double check the K1/K2 situation as i am not sure if the new one was K2 or K1 plus or whatever they decide to call them, not very good at naming things those at Creality. :)
Of the CR variety, try finding a used CR10S V2 with BL-Touch, not with an inductive sensor, never had a failed print on it, ever, although slow, but it can continue prints on power failure with it's original firmware. If you can find it for 200$, it beats the living s#it out of Enders, and does 300x300x400mm so not small.
CR 5 Pro is also good, but only modified to direct drive and while at it change the hot end to high temp one, put a lid above it and print ABS/HIPS, i would gladly pay 250$ for a well cared one. Be aware that printing PLA with the open door is a must, even PETG, and as is will not be good for ABS/HIPS.
Also be aware that CR 5 PRO is a 32.5KG beast, so not easy to move by one person, at all, i know i moved it several times! :(

May I express my feelings via the medium of song, don't listen to the following if you don't like some of Australia's most useful expressions. (3 attempts to get that right)

One of my favorite movie quotes:
Boris 'The Blade' Yurinov: Heavy is good, heavy is reliable. If it doesn't work you can always hit them with it.

well cornholio that is most definitely angerish. Awh crap now that first song is stuck in my head. LOL

tommylight thank you for the recommendations I am glad I wasn't the only one who has gotten caught
with the whole get a Bambu Lab printer only to now feel bad for doing so. Then again we gave the best
recommendations we had at the time with the information available. Fortunately Prusa had to play
catch up because of companies like Bambu Lab. At this point I have no problem telling people to get a
Prusa the higher price tag is worth the freedom it provides. That said I will be looking into your other
recommendations as well especially the CR5 PRO. Heavy usually also means stable.
