Anyone against deleting this topic?
I failed to raise hell... :)
P.S.
I still maintain that calling silicium "silicon" is not smart, by any stretch of imagination. Sue me !

I'll just giggle at the irony of your opening post.

not Hererunterfahren :-), sondern Herunterfahren. "drive down"?

AI tells me on a short "Ethernet controller setup LinuxCNC" search, what the "hottest 10 Windows11 Laptops of 2025 are".
Maybe how to fix the Wifi on my phone?

Just for fun translate: "vibration tumbler" to Chinese with an AI translator. Then feed the result back into picture search. (just for safety do not do it when someone is watching) :-)

German for bicycle = "Biobike" (what???) it was Fahrrad, when i left.
Dictionaries made from dead trees were still a thing. :-) it is a mess!

I'll spit my dummy if you delete this topic. I learnt stuff that was interesting. I had no idea about the whole silicon thing, which was largely due to living in a western English speaking country.....and probably dropping out of highschool. My attitude was inversely proportional to my intelligence. The more I learnt the bigger cnut I was at school.
School is wasted on the young ;)

My take is that humanity didn't get dumber through the internet... until algorythmic information feed was established.

I learnt a lot from the internet from the mid nineties till now, on forums like this. But the algorythmic feed from YT (I avoid IG, FB, TT, X etc), has already knocked a couple of points off my IQ, trending sharply down :)

Maybe that is also just getting older and grumpier though.
Cheers,
Mark

I tend to think the "early years" of the internet was about information, seems to be more about entertainment and consumerism now.

Then we have a situation where some people believe what is contrary to science and create rules that do not allow you to question the belief.
