If people wish to swallow the continued escalation of data mining the populus and participating
in police states. that is for them to decide.
But to put it simply rodw you don't have to log into forums to READ the information. At least not yet.
I wont be surprised if that changes soon as well. You know for the kids. Wont somebody please think
of the Children. So why Should I have to log in to VIEW a video, that's my point.
I am tired of the increasing collection of data on everyone not just me.
I may not be able to stop the big machine, But I don't have to help it along either.
I cant find any reference to having to log on to view videos other than random people saying they have technical issues going back YEARS. Can you direct me to the youtube policy for this? I know this is is a new policy in the usa (maybe only in some states, not federal, and nothing to do with youtube of course) but i cant see where its stated by youtube as a rule. Got links?
I am currently watching videos while not logged in...
it requested that I log in to view the videos. Video's that played just fine yesterday (tutorials on Tkinter) now request
that I log in. whether it's official policy is immaterial. It's the fact that it's happening.
ihavenofish If you're able to watch YouTube without logging in then perhaps there is some technical aspect in the mix
that I don't know about, region, country, municipality, internet provider. ect. any of the above could be it.
I will try my machines when I get home and see if there is a difference.

and that could mean that the internet at work triggers something on YouTube that makes it
think that my computers at work are bots of some kind. (strange that it didn't yesterday)
So yes, I concede it may be just a technical issue,

The browsers are most probably hijacked on both of those that require login, so someone somewhere has all your login data.
As a general rule, do not click on any link that you see, that is really, really bad, and the main reason i keep repeating on this forum to upload stuff on our server, not on 3rd party web sites due to scripts those sites use to track and spy on every damn thing on your PC.

momentarily. everything else is either off line or no log in used. My Linux laptop gets a complete wipe and re install
every so often anyway. It's also what I usually play Youtube on.

It is unreasonable not having several PC's these days, have work stuff separate from fun stuff and those separate from gaming stuff, etc etc, since the used PC's are very cheap and Linux is perfectly usable on them.

OK, now this makes sense. yes, this will be country - or likely state - specific. You happen to be in texas? I know they just implements some form of this.
This isn't youtube's fault though, this is the government of wherever you live. They just have to follow the laws.

Hilariously in the early 2000's I didn't really care for computers I liked carburetors over EFI though over time that has changed. I have builttommylight post=337548 userid=17274Nice, i am glad.

and installed multiple MegaSquirt EFI computers mid 2000's I got my first Windows XP Laptop. It wasn't until mid 2010's that I started
looking into CNC and eventually multiple Linux installs on Desktops and Laptops though I still feel like a noob with mountains of
learning still ahead.
It is however very disheartening to see the direction the world has been pushed post Covid.
