Pings are still around 100us. I assume you are referring to the modules in the config string of hm2. That would be helpful once I get the 7i80 to talk back to hm2. I still have no luck with that and I have no idea how to debug the problem either.
I am a bit frustrated with myself at the moment and I only have the one box to use for this job.

I would try

1. trimming the number of modules used in the driver config line

2. if that doesnt work, lower the servo thread rate

3. posting your hal/ini files here may help

I have halved the servo rate to 2000000ns
I made the modules one each
And I am using the example (7i92) that you provided on the mailing list

What I dont understand here is if the MAC address is read from the FPGA then how can the rest not be received? I dont understand the deeper workings of the code but that seems strange to me.

Is there a way for me to try an debug this somehow. I am just guessing now and I dont even know the name of the game :S

The first value sent to the board is 0x5d88. Is that what is expected when the board is probed. I also put a long timeout in the code to see if that is a problem but it does not help.
It does not answer back on that command.

Just checked with a D525 (similar CPU horsepower but older chipset) and hm2_eth runs OK at 1 KHz on it

Possibly there's a network setup issue of some kind. maybe disabling the iptables filter
will help if theres some issue there.

It might possibly be a problem with old (or maybe strange set of modules) firmware in the 7I80
(I dont think there were any versions that have serious bugs, but I haven't used any old firmware for a while)

You can determine the firmware features and version with mesaflash

There might be a problem here. I could see the board before with mesaflash as I reprogrammed the ip to 10.10.10.10. The board will answer a ping to that address but now the mesaflash also reports that it cannot find a 7i80 board. Even if I enter the new ip in the command line.

The jumpers are
W1 - down
W2 - up
W3 - up
W4 - up

I connected with the board on the default ip but I cannot seem to find the firmware version number. I did a readhmid. Where should I look for the firmware version?

I can see the board on ip 10.10.10.10.
The manual has an error on page 13 where it states that the command line option is -ip xx.xx.xx.xx. This should be --addr xx.xx.xx.xx.

I still cannot find the firmware version.
Output of of readhmid attached

you can get the Ethernet firmware version with mesaflash's --verbose option:

mesaflash --device 7i80 --addr 10.10.10.10 --verbose

the -addr option used to be --ip I will update the manual

Did you try disabling the iptables filter? a mistake here might disable all communication to the 7I80 when linuxcnc is started

Hi Peter
I did remove the iptables entries in the rules.v4 file. No change there.
I attached the output of the verbose option
