Some information to enlarge the picture.
1/ Model engineering is one of my hobby and I would like to upgrade a chinese bench mill to CNC. So I don't need an Indy 500 racing CNC. Accuracy is better than speed for me.
2/ I plan to use a pcDuino to manage the stepper motors. pcDuino works with Linux Unbuntu. That's the reason of the choice of Xubuntu.
The problem is that I am not a seasoned user of Linux . I am not skilled enough to tweak the kernel by myself . For that reason I need trusty step by step process.

I would not suggest this route unless you want to spend a lot of time on kernel issues
a BBB and machinekit is a better starting point if you want a working ARM based CNC system
and not an adventure in bleeding edge kernel hacking

Most of the BBB's use Debian with a Xenomai kernel, there are pre-built images you can download,
don't buy one with an image, it won't be the right one.
They use capes to add IO, step generation etc.
You just need to take time to work through the site and then search the forum posts.

I guess that BBB=Beaglebone Black
I found that BBB preloaded with Debian
Is it OK?
I suppose that "machinekit" is that one
I have to learn BBB from scratch. Would mind to help me find a smart place to start?
