Hi,

i have to update to 2.8 or 2.9 because i want to use the gantry homing and the compensation for ballscrews because i have two 1600mm screws on my Y Axis and they have no linear diviation to each other.

I installed linuxcnc ccompletely new with the 2.7.14 wheezy iso. I went to synaptics and deactivated the 2.7 base from linuxcnc.org and activated both master files from buildbot.

Then i click refresh, but it still shows 2.7.14 as newest version.. now iam stuck and dont know what to do. Also i get a failure when i refresh "Release-Datei für archive.debian.org/debian-security/dists/wheezy/updates/Release ist abgelaufen"
it says something that debian release has expired..

It finally worked i checked only the files from buildbot and unchecked all other packages. But the new Master branch is 2.9. There is a 2.8 Version at scratch but i think thats not the latest ? Where can i get the latest stable version of 2.8 or is 2.9 also stable?

V2.8 has been quarantined off for final checking pending it becoming the release version when it will retire V 2.7 There is not much difference between 2.8 and 2.9 but V 2.9 is open for business for new features

any news about python-gtksourceview2 & python-vte dependencies
that has linuxcnc 2.8 ?
In debian buster python-gtksourceview2 & python-vte are not available as packages
so 2.8 cannot be installed and if you force install without these deps gmocappy does not works because it depends to python-gtksourceview2

That is not something in my sphere but I had no problems compiling V2.9 from source today.

I installed linuxcnc ccompletely new with the 2.7.14 wheezy iso.

Use the Stretch ISO instead, install the 2.7 uspace ISO then update to 2.8 from the Buildbot:

There seems to be an error on that page in regards to stretch, 2.7.0 in the title but talks about 2.8 in the description.
