I had noticed the buildbot had been down for some time now, hope it comes back on soon.
I need my monthly fix of reinstall.

I'm currently running Debian Wheezy. Is it possible to upgrade directly by editing sources.list, replacing wheezy with stretch? This is how I usually update my other Debian machines, but I understand LinuxCNC needs some magic like the RT kernel.

I am going to go out on a limb and just say NO.

If you are using the standard Linuxcnc iso that uses the RTAI kernel, there is no pre packaged RTAI kernel (or Linuxcnc version) currently available for Jessie or Stretch.

(It might, maybe be possible if you are using a Preempt-RT version, but no guarantees.)

Don't replace but add the repository also add the Jessie backports although that may not now be necessary.
I added buildbot also to get 2.8.
Open synaptic type linux-image and select the one you require, it is in there or was when I did it 3 weeks ago.

See this thread

You can get the source code with a Google search as well and have 3.8.6.
I hate Debian because of standard Linux tools made unavailable. Have spent days trying to get Mint or Ubuntu with a fully working Glade-3 (what you get if you compile). Trying to do tutorial #2 crashes it.

Please let me know if you are successful.

Thank you!
I decided to use wheezy for editing until this (hopefully) gets resolved.

Hi!

I'm trying to install a Run In Place version on Debian Strech, but I cant solve this dependencies:
dpkg-checkbuilddeps: error: Unmet build dependencies: linux-image-userspace rtai-modules-userspace | rtai-modules-userspace linux-headers-userspace

I'm using a preemrt kernel , so i made configure: ./configure userspace on debian folder.

any work around?

thanks
