Why didn't you try the Mint 19.3 with Linuxcnc pre installed ?

Beware that there is some issues with 5.4 and Mesa Ethernet cards.

I've linked to this discussion before.
github.com/LinuxCNC/linuxcnc/issues/927

Tis the reason I've kept to a known stable 4.19.106 kernel.

Remeber when Debian make their RT_PREEMPT kernels they don't have Linuxcnc in mind.

I did use 5.4.0 as i was aware that 5.6 had issues.
And 5.4.0 has a bit worse latency than 4.9 on almost all of my PC's and Laptops.

That's the reason I've been sticking to the 4.19.106 kernel, good latency, nice and stable and had no issues at all whilst running jobs.
