I selected one Y main and modified the HAL as per the thread linked in the readme file of Plasmac.

So thefabricator03, did you select a main y with a tandem y or two main y's?

I did publish an example here of a hal file done this way. 18 months ago....
forum.linuxcnc.org/47-hal-examples/34072...ranch-gantry-example
Now the multi spindle means the example needs a tweak to the spindle config. It only needs one line changed.

FWIW that would make more sense to me tooeg the hal should be more like
loadrt pid names=pid.0,pid.1,pid.2,pid.3 pid.s

Ah, I went and had a look at that. It looks like it's from 2 yrs ago so maybe they've updated pncconf to better handle this since then. For future reference in my experience using pncconf to setup a main y and a tandem y should get you jogging motors right out of the gate.

I think it must have been user error as I tested pncconf's 7i76e support for Chris Morley aboujt when I made that other post in Feb last year. Which is why I did up that example in the first place.

the older docs are realy a problem now
and as i did yesterday a conversion of a 4th axis to 2.9 stretch i did struggel even with 8month of near dayly hal ini work
there shoudt be a advice
that the translater 2.7 to 2.9 needts to be run more then once
so if it errors on the first startup
start again
and again
and for me again
the 4th startup did a real good and stable configuration
as it added lines on every start
coudt not beleve the vfd did change 3 times

It shouldn't.
Can you zip and attach the unmodified config which caused the problem? I will try to make it work.
Note that the update_ini script was itself updated last night, and should now work better for tandem axes and missing axes (eg lathes)
