Turn off any power saving and you may also use the isolcpu kernel commandline option.

Is there a guide to using isolcpu? I'm a complete newbie to linux

What is an acceptable max jitter for Mesa Ethernet?

Will work through the wifi over the next few weeks as time permits.

Thanks again for all the help

The search function should turn up numerous hits for isolcpu or it maybe isolcpus.

If you weren’t so north of my location I’d offer my time for nix to help ya out.

Maybe I'm better off sending it down to you and getting you to set it all up correctly - I'm happy to pay for your time

126uS for sure is OK (126000 nS), as i have an old laptop that does that and works for days without dropping the link.

Don't worry about paying for my time, I've got plenty of that at the moment.

I'll give you my postcode, 2168, just so you can get a quote for postage there and back and we'll go from there.

Thanks for that. I've just ordered a usb wifi, so once that turns up, I'll see how everything is going, and if I am still having no luck, I'll ship it down to you.

Thanks again for all the help :)

Could you just try something ?
tar -cvzf efivars.tar.gz /sys/firmware/efi/efivars/
&
dmesg | grep bcrm > dmesg.txt
And post both files.

dmesg | grep bcm > dmesg.txt
Creates a text file with the output of the command, instead of sending it to the screen, known as redirection.

tar -cvzf efivars.tar.gz /sys/firmware/efi/efivars/
Creates a compressed named efivars.tar.gz with all the contents of /sys/firmware/efi/efivars

I meant can you attach the tar.gz (you will need to change to name to efivars.tar.gz ) & txt files as an attachment. So I can download them and do some magic to hopefully get the on board wifi up.

What does dmesg output before & after plugging in the usb device ?

Run this so you have lsusb
sudo apt-get install usbutils
Then run
lsusb
