Assuming the Mesa 7i92 is my answer, I'm in Australia, I looked for a local distributor and a 10 year old post on CNCZone from rodw said that he too was Australian and had them for sale?? Is this still the case and how do I go about buying one?

The closest distributor is in New Zealand but it's probably easier to order from Mesa direct.

Ended up using the EV1616DN for 'slow' signals such as limits and lights. Used a PCIe parallel port card and Mach3 breakout board for the steppers. Stepconfig used for the mach3 card config (with modifications for homing) and hand coded the hal file. Works pretty well and now I have plenty of I/O for further development.

Great work. time to adopt Ethercat all the way!. rtelligent and leadshine both have Ethercat stepper drives. If open loop, both have two channel drives. Not sure wat you have but for a gantry XYYZ machine, you only need two drives! There is some native support in the lcnc Ethercat driver. Should be a breeze now you know how to write the xml file :)
