Thank you very much!

Looking at "arm" are you running a Chiron with that? :D

I will take a look and reply :)

It is possible to do ohmic sensing from the tip. At least it is on a Hypertherm 30XP using relay ohmic, I imagine it would work the same with a THCAD. I have been doing this for a few years now without any issues. The only mod to my torch from memory was to insert a diode, the inspiration was from   here  and  here .

Move Machine to inside soft limits when Probe Basic on

Category: QtPyVCP

Ok, so my Z is configured correctly with 0 top and negative moving down as Z+ is top and Z- is down correct? Or should I change some of the config values?

I need to adjust X so zeroing on left edge of table. So will swap zero and set to left edge. I can do that. And Y, I could zero front edge of table (moving to rear) just made me a little concerned as no limit switch and crash would be at back. Wanted limit switch on moving backwards. Any thoughts on this aspect...

The 6I24 is a 50 pin FPGA card and the 6I25 is a 25 pin FPGA card
so they use different breakout cards.

Move Machine to inside soft limits when Probe Basic on

My machine is setup same as they probe_basic.ini in the sim. Homes z up, table right, table front.

It could be also that your axis motors are turning the wrong direction of things aren't making sense.

Then you might want to use the joint.0.amp-fault input pin as that would disable everything when triggered, but does not e-stop.

Mesa Card Basics

Category: Driver Boards

quite new to mesa and llinuxcnc myself, few doubts retrofitting an older machine
all 3 axis + spindle are all AC servos that use resolvers for feedback, does this mean I can use 7i49? and can I use its 10v analog to control the motors respective drives?
moreover, I've seen it elsewhere paired with 6i24 fpga, but online ive seen variants of that with 16, 24 and 50 pins, how does this affect my usage? are these related to I/O pins?

For a safety mechanism; the output signal controls 3 relays (which controls the spindle motor & misc circuits), and the input signal is basically all of those relays wired together, so if any of them stops working, I want everything to stop and error out. Thanks for the tip about timedelay--I ended up using a combination of xor2 and ton comps to get the effect I wanted:
setp ton.0.pt 1.0
net ref => xor2.0.in0
net mon => xor2.0.in1
net xor2.0.out => ton.0.in
net err <= ton.0.q

It depends on the machine. Most vmc's home table full front and right so tool changes occur with work/setups/rotary 4th axis etc clear of any ATC motion.

Home switches are located X right hand side, Y front, Z top.

Does not matter at all, it can be set in LinuxCNC however you have it and need it.

For Z for example, is this 0 at the top and homing at the top??

Yes, that is correct.

Got a THCAD2 from www.welectron.com in Germany a few days back, not installed yet as it was freezing lately.
Updates when i get to using it a bit, although i see no apparent reason for any difference from THCAD10 and THCAD300 i used before.

Move Machine to inside soft limits when Probe Basic on

Category: QtPyVCP

Ok, so it should be 0 to max travel correct? And that means homing switch is on the left, table moving to the right. Allows for cutting moving from 0 to max travel. Y is confusing for me as I could not work this one out and have correct orientation on the screen. Z, homing was recommended for the top, correct? So how is this configured normally. Does anyone have an example config? Standard xyz mill.

Move Machine to inside soft limits when Probe Basic on

Category: QtPyVCP

Ok, so at the moment I have it homing right hand side of X (i.e. moves table to left cutting to right to home), Front of Y (Y- table comes towards front, cutting to rear, to home), and Z (Z+ moves up to home).

The reason for the front homing is I was not comfortable reaching end of travel at the base of the Z upright. But happy to be dissuaded.

Home switches are located X right hand side, Y front, Z top.

So if this was to change, could you please document out the placement for the homing switches, and the values that should be applied? I believe that it needs to progress to rear and right for cutting purposes. Z I believe is correct orientation, but settings on the home, offset etc... I must admit, I have been confused.

For Z for example, is this 0 at the top and homing at the top??

Could you please provide some direction and numbers that would adjust and orientate effectively?

Thanks and appreciated.

Setting middle of table as home isn't advised in my opinion. This tends to be the desire of new cnc users for some reason but will present some complications down the road once you've started actually machining.

Last i worked with such machine was over 15 years ago, and that machine was very old, so i wonder the same thing when i read such requests.
Using any CAM from last 15-20 years will make the use of such machine impossible, pretty much, from the get go.
