"error finishing read" with Mesa 7i92T on fresh install

Category: Driver Boards

Aaaand!

You guys are totally awesome!

Installing the 6.3 rt kernel first fixed the network not working after updating to the R8168 driver.

And that driver changed my ping rtt stats obtained from:
sudo chrt 99 ping -i .001 -q 10.10.10.10

from max > 3.0ms to max < 0.2 ms.

Wow.

Hopefully this will improve my error finishing read issues!

Thank you, thank you again!

"error finishing read" with Mesa 7i92T on fresh install

My 6.3 kernel is quite old now but still ahead of Bookworm's 6.1 kernel
Sometimes I have lost my network with the R8168 and have been able to boot into a different kernel on the system to resolve it. Except I can't remember what I resolved! I think I needed to download something from the internet or run apt

I updated the typo

Rod, I'm going to try your 6.3 rt kernel...

note that I think the document docs.google.com/document/d/1jeV_4VKzVmOI...I_PhCm1x7oiw8VcLFdiY

has a typo on line 40... it should be:
sudo dpkg -i linux-headers (tab)
not
sudo dpkg -i linux-source (tab)

It's really awesome that you put that package up there.

"error finishing read" with Mesa 7i92T on fresh install

PS: I realized that r8169 is not really even a thing, it's just kinda part of the kernel, but just to be sure that wouldn't fix anything, I did try:
sudo apt purge r8169

but nothing happens: it's an error since that's not a thing that's been installed, unlike the r8168-dkms.

"error finishing read" with Mesa 7i92T on fresh install

Category: Driver Boards

Hey guys,

I'm rebuilding my system after the fires and power surges near LA knocked out my last CNC computer, and I skipped the step on updating the Realtek driver.

I followed the procedure in Rodw's document (thank you again Rodw for all this amazing documentation) but when I'm done, my network to the Mesa card does not come up.

Just to be sure I'm on the right document: docs.google.com/document/d/1jeV_4VKzVmOI..._PhCm1x7oiw8VcLFdiY/

The results of
sudo lshw -C network

includes:
*-network UNCLAIMED
       description: Ethernet controller
product: RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller

My first google attempts haven't solved it, but I'll report back if I do.

But if you guys know what I've done wrong, please shout out.

BTW: I did discover that if I do what Rodw mentions in the document:
sudo apt purge r8168-dkms

Then I can get the network card back up again. But then it's back to the bad driver too.

I thought to do:
sudo apt purge r8169

... but I'm afraid I might never get it working again !

Hi Collins,

The ceres library is likely the Ferrari of the non-linear-solvers. It's given as a present from google.
The ceres_capi is in fact wrapped around c++.

Today i added algorithm1, page 9 from the abstract. Wich is to find the closest point to the clothoid, given a point in space.
This one also uses the ceres solver.

Tomorrow we start doing algorithm2, wich calculates max distance from gcode trajectory to clothoid.

EtherCAT plasma torch voltage reader

Category: Show Your Stuff

Had to go out and check a few things on the plasma cutter. Both electrode and work lead are disconnected from PE. At lest when switched on and not cutting. And electrode comes in as arc- and work lead as arc+. Consistent with DCEN. And work lead should be connected to ground as you both say. So the work lead/ground potential can be considered still, while the negative arc voltage will fluctuate. 0 to around -100V.. And I just realised that wasn't so good. There are ground and ground planes on THTIC connected to the negative input which will vary in potential after how the negative arc voltage fluctuates. How can this have worked? Obviously it did. But there should be a negative op amp amplifier instead. I'll test that tomorrow, I can modify one of the boards.

I looked at that hypertherm torch, not in depth or anything. The copper tip is exposed but there can be some arrangement where the tip is somewhat isolated from the start parts and work lead. My cutter has the bare tip connected to the work lead and there is zero difference in voltage when the tip comes in contact with the steel sheet.

Hard drives dont like cold.

True, but i would venture a guess that up to -5C should still be OK on older drives and 0C on new-ish drives. Never tested, though as SSD are not so sensitive and i do not have HDD to test with.
I think 5 to 45C is their normal working environment temperature, but fast ones do get hot while working.
