Carousel component with 2 Towers.

Category: Configuration Tools

I want to create two ATCs on the same machine.
I want to use two carousel components.
the first ATC I call T01 M6 G43.

How to call the second ATC tool??
ex: ..2 M6 G43

In other words, I want to have 2 tool towers, and I need to call the tools from the second tower.
Sorry for my English.

The UX and UI in Heidenhain is a catastrophe compared to Datron imo. I believe in touch for basically everything except stuff like start/stop/jog/feed+spindle override where you might need to take action quickly. I'm sure you can find examples of the Datron UI on youtube.

Semiotics and hierarchy is highly important in any UX/UI, so if anything I would work on that.

You had given me a config string a few months ago in discussion from another thread:

PCW-  "Judging by the pdf I think this is correct, not sure about the initial null though

           "biss_chan_0=null%1bcrc%6fwarning%1berror%1bzero%2uencoder%24e"

(the added "zero" is for the zeros bits in the 26 bit position code"

I didn't understand it at the time. I'll try this and report back if it works.

LinuxCNC-RIO - RealtimeIO for LinuxCNC based on FPGA (ICE40 / ECP5)

Category: Computers and Hardware

Hi Guys,
I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have a TangBOB board that I am trying to get a N4D3E16 MODBUS board (16 Digital In - 16 Digital Out) to work with.
This board will only allow Function codes 3 (Read Status) and 6 (Control Command).
I have all 16 inputs working well through to LinuxCNC, but I can't get the outputs to work. When I configure RIOCore to use function 6, it seems to assign it as a float, and so in the testgui it shows up as a slider.
Attached are a couple of pics of my configs and a page from the modbus boards manual.
I am hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction here.

Thanks
Andrew

Category: Computers and Hardware

you can use the serial commands with a terminal like picocom.
try picocom -b 115200 /dev/ttyUSB0
But the spiethconfig does not work. Use the default settings

Ethercat installation from repositories - how to step by step

Category: EtherCAT

Thank you for the reply! Sorry for the perhaps stupid questions, this is the first time for me with linuxcnc, ethercat and linux in general basically...

However I guess that means that the Etherlabs people have to do some kind of update for it to be compatible?

I guess I will continue on the 6.1.69 image from Cornholio then. I was able to update it to lcnc 2.9.4 and install ethercat through you guides (would not have been possible without them, so huge thank you!), and I guess it does not really matter to have the latest kernel right?

try:
sudo apt install dkms

dkms should be a dependency of ethercat-master
maybe it needs installing manually on the pi

Remora - ethernet NVEM / EC300 / EC500 cnc board

Category: Computers and Hardware

Hello everyone,I have a question regarding uploading the Remora config, as the config upload runs into a timeout.

To explain: I am using an EC500 board flashed with the latest Remora CPP version. Uploading a new config has worked flawlessly multiple times before, but ever since I switched from Ubuntu Linux to the Debian LinuxCNC ISO, it no longer works and results in a timeout.

Reflashing the EC500 works without any issues. The board can be pinged and used without problems. However, the config upload using upload_config.py does not work.Has anyone encountered this issue before and maybe has a tip for me? I know that I could theoretically compile a modified config into a firmware build, but I would like to get the upload function working again.

Thanks and best regards!

I just found on the subject the config page on the github github.com/SybexX/ESP32_LinuxCNC_MotionC...in/SerialCommands.md,
I don't understand where you have to type the commands to configure the card?

Stuck with spindle interface 7i76 card and weird BLDC driver

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Hello,

I tried to figure that out, but not really successful, so I spam the forum with the questions. (I have the feeling I should have found the information somewhere; maybe someone can point me in the right direction)
I have a 6i25 card with a 7i76 card connected to my PC. Some stepper motors are running and can be moved with keyboard, a basic configuration is running.

Now I got stuck, trying to hook up the old BLDC driver (labeled TONMAN Brushless DC driver) or the machine (which I have no documentation for) seems not to run with an analog input.
I tried to connect the Spindle interface somehow, but it does not want to run.

There is a pair of pins labeled +- (PWM / ANNA), but I think it is not really for analog input signal.
Hooking up a potentiometer (allowing to create a voltage between 0 and 5V) does nothing to a certain voltage. At approx. 2.6V it switches from "off" to "full speed".
I tried one of those PWM generators   which works fine. It allows to control the speed of the motor, no issue. I can adjust the motor speed by setting the duty cycle to anything between 10% and 100% and it seems to be what I need.

Now the questions: Is it correct that in my situation the spindle interface of the 7i76 is just the wrong choice for my BLDC amplifier?
How do I make a PWM control for my spindle with the 7i76 (6i25)?

Greetings Timo
