Black Friday Deal got me :)

Category: Plasma & Laser

been looking into this and i think it can be done but it is not cheap project :) off the shelf options are either through the roof in price or yet to be discovered. even making the stuff myself is going to be expensive by my standards and could see costing around $400 per chuck. So that being said i think i will start with a rotary union to see if i can pull that off and go from there :) without that the whole idea goes out the window :)

I installed the new deb from releases but it doesn't seem to be adding anything new. I don't have qabstractproperties on the pushbutton whether I set it inside the stacked widget or not. Do I have to do anything special when upgrading flexgui?

I'm not sure what qabstractproperties is, what are you trying to do with that?

If you download the deb from the latest release and install it with gdebi or your favorite way you have the latest.

I'll add a screenshot to the docs.

Finally came around to start implementing everything. Freshly installed linuxcnc doesn´t recognize the mesa card though. I've set W5 down to load basic configuration in case the eeprom firmware has some issues. I can only see the Texas Instruments PCIE bridge when i list all connected PCI hardware in terminal

You can set it directly via setp, for example, setp lcec.0.1.output-pin 1. For detailed instructions, see this link linuxcnc.org/docs/stable/html/hal/basic-hal.html#sub:hal-setp

I wouldn't use the 50:1 voltage divider. a THCAD5 with a 5 volt full scale would be more suited to use with it. Instead just calibrate the THCAD to read 200 to 300 volts full scale with a resistor.

Probe basic Install errors

Category: QtPyVCP

Hey guys, I'm struggling. I am beyond frustrated with trying to get Probe Basic to launch fully. I have been trying to get this to work since a few days before Christmas.

Here is what I know.
I can launch the Dev with the sim on the PC.
I figured out that one of my issues was the screen size. I now have a compatible screen installed.
I have reinstalled the bookworm iso and followed the instructions several times.
I have cleaned and wiped the system at least 6 times and always come back to an error launching.
i was having the issue of probe basic not launching due to a ini dual hal file error but after a wipe and reinstall and apt repair it seems to have gone away.

I am still getting can not start display probe basic. I have gone through the configs several times and started fresh with my ini and hal files and still can not get it to launch via Linux CNC launcher with my setup files.

Any advice? I would greatly appreciate it.

I have a Mesa 7i96s card with a THCAD - 10. Do I need a voltage divider for this? I purchased two resistors - 2.4M OHM 1/2W 1% AXIA ( digikey ) as well as a 50:1 voltage divider ( CNCpc ). Do I need both?

MB2HAL write

Category: HAL

I have got this modbus 16 I/O module 485io.com/io-isolation-protection-board-...relay-led-p-373.html
This is the manual 485io.com/eletechsup/N4D3E16-1.rar

I have used this config to mb2hal and i can read in hal all 16 inputs with success
[TRANSACTION_00]
LINK_TYPE=serial
SERIAL_PORT=/dev/ttyS0
SERIAL_BAUD=9600
SERIAL_BITS=8
SERIAL_PARITY=none
SERIAL_STOP=1
SERIAL_DELAY_MS=500
MB_SLAVE_ID=1
FIRST_ELEMENT=129
PIN_NAMES=mb1,mb2,mb3,mb4,mb5,mb6,mb7,mb8,mb9,mb10,mb11,mb12,mb13,mb14,mb15,mb16
MB_TX_CODE=fnct_03_read_holding_registers
But i can't write 16 outputs.
How can make it to work ?
How can i send custom command with mb2hal like this?
(slave address)0x01 (function)0x06 (number of output)0x0001 (command)0x05 (delay time)0x00 (2Bytes CRC)

Linuxcnc 2.9.2 and 2.93 images for Raspberry Pi 4b & 5

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

Yes what is there is 2.9.2.
Downloaded 2.9.3 and it makes a huge difference for me on the Pi 5.
I wasn't getting 1080p on the display and axis was always clipped and wouldn't show me the status area at the bottom of the screen.
Switched to the newer build and I've got 1080p and can see the full screen.

Thanks!

Exercise: Turn on output led on EL2809 when machine is turned on

Category: EtherCAT

This is not so much about ethercat but about how to connect pins in hal.
Since you are in halshow, go and find the pins of the EL2809 there. It may be under lcec.0. What number or name depends on your ethercat-conf.xml
Then, when you have the pin name of the output where the led is, you enter in your machine.hal (using the actual pin name)
net switch-on-led motion.motion-enabled lcec.0.1.output-pin
