My login is blocked

Category: Forum Questions

Hi there,

It was a while since i haven't logged in into the forum, when i tried it was unsuccesful. I tried to register with my old username and email which succeeded. Somehow my user seems to be deleted. My previous posts are still on the server though. Anyway when i tried to log in today, i'm confronted with message login is blocked. There was no way to reach an admin or something, so i registered through another mail address with a new username to write this message.

If an admin is reading this, can you tell me what's wrong with my account?
And also i couldn't find a way to reach an admin other than creating another account and posting here.

my previous username was "egemens"

Best,
Egemen

Remora - ethernet NVEM / EC300 / EC500 cnc board

Category: Computers and Hardware

Good day!I have an NVEM v1 board bought back in 2017. I decided to install the Remora firmware on it. I can't connect to it with ST-Link and RS232. There are S1 contacts on the back side, I tried to jumper them, no result. Has anyone encountered this?

LinuxCNC on Raspberry Pi 5

Thanks for getting back to me.

I wanted to that that I got the image to burn onto a card through random internet searches / and re-try's. I'm sure we are all familiar with middle of the night stubbornness. LOL

Once burned the image seemed quite quite good to me with the caveat that my next step will be to get my 7i95T board configured so I haven't yet tested end-to operation.

I used saved versions of all the raspberypi.org and raspbian.org config files for apt including the keyring files that are needed. So it was quick to update/upgrade/apt install a reasonable collection of Pi specific config tools.

So thanks for making that image available.

I do have a few questions/hopes about embedding some of those tweaks into the Pi 4/5 specific IMG's.

1) Include the Pi specific APT/PGP files on the conditional build you are using for the Pi.

2) Include the core Pi executables as well with serious bonus points for adding those to the default app-lauch UI like is being done for LinuxCNC.

Those two things would substantially reduce the newbie headwinds for those that are either new or rusty on Linux.

Thanks so much for all your work!

Mesa firmware versions and updating

Category: Driver Boards

Yeah i thought that was not the best answer as i understand why you are asking, but with Mesa there is no need to update firmware ever, changing firmware can be done based on your needs easily, i have a 7i92 and a 6i25 that i have flashed over 50 times doing all kinds of testing.
Also Mesa downloads will contain whatever firmware is available for that card, for some over 20 versions with different combos of stepgen/PWM/encoders/IO etc to choose from.
-
Just to be clear, i have no affiliation with Mesa, i used them once on a retrofit and got even specialised firmware from them in a day for exactly what i needed, from then on i exclusively use Mesa as they are extremely reliable, support is absolutely perfect as you can see above (PCW is the owner of Mesa), and by now i have over 80 Mesa boards on industrial machines in use daily, never had a single failure.

Hi @tommylight,

but with Mesa there is no need to update firmware ever

I am correct in understanding that when I get a new Mesa 7i96S card, I don't have to flash any firmware to it, please?

-- That is, it is ready to be used as it comes.

(
I have already paid for one, via Mr. Andrew Beck from New Zealand, I have not received it yet. He did not have one in stock, he has done an order from the U.S.A. :)
)

Thank out and best regards,

...behai.

JT shared some gcode for sheet alignment.
gnipsel.com/linuxcnc-old/index.html
At one stage, I modified this to run on Gmocappy macro buttons.
Maths in gcode really sucks but the way this is done is to probe the material in two places and save the two sets of X,Y coordinates
you end up with a right angled triangle between these points. Then you can use pythagoras theorem to calculate the hypotenuse of the triangle which is the distance along the material edge between these points
With some simple trig, you can calculate the angle the sheet is aligned on.
Finally, given this angle, you can rotate the X,Y plane around the  Z axis by this amount

I found your page earlier, but your photos aren't very clear and the thread is 76 pages long. Is there a page there that is especially relevant to my goal?

I linked you to the exact post on about page 3 ot 4

only in my comuter they are "jumping" to another position (my motors are not moving) and its a larg number like almost 300mm in x and y axis

it does not matter. if you home your machine,  it still has to move to the home switch and homing will zero the DRO

More info, please
Is there any feedback to LinuxCNC from the motors? Encoders? Glass scales? Resolvers? Anything?
What controller board?
Is it parallel port?
What is wired to inputs?
What drives and motors?

Changing stepgen position-scale parameter dynamically

Category: Basic Configuration

It would be much easier for you and for us if you skip the secrecy and just tell us what do you want to achieve, usually there are more than one way of doing things in LinuxCNC as it is very flexible.
Changing the scale is not good/safe/smart as noted above, but moving stuff more/less while the program is running is easy using external offsets.

Changing stepgen position-scale parameter dynamically

Category: Basic Configuration

Parameters can be changed with a hal setp command
Note that dynamically changing the stepgen position scale
will result in following errors.

You mean I need to write a hal command (setp) in my python code?
and to avoid errors I need to restart the linuxcnc after changing that parameter, right?
