sudo lspci -v
see if there is a 5i20 or 5120 mentioned there, usually near the bottom of a loooooong list.

I think this file is missing:
'/usr/realtime-2.6.32-122-rtai/modules/linuxcnc/hm2_pci.ko'

what does this list?
sudo ls /usr/realtime-2.6.32-122-rtai/modules/linuxcnc/hm2_pci.ko

I think you'd get a "No such file or directory" error rather than a "no device" message. And it's hard to imagine a file going missing after changing a battery.

Remora - ethernet NVEM / EC300 / EC500 cnc board

Category: Computers and Hardware

Is there an update to get the NVMPG working on the EC500 with remora?

Remora for RK3588 Boards

Category: Computers and Hardware

Yes, maybe "remora" name should be reserved for projects that use an external MCU interfaced over SPI (or Ethernet) to LinuxCNC. Using an integrated MCU seems cool, but it's not clear how it is interfaced (shared memory maybe?) and how is firmware flashed to it. This is something that was already done in the past with  allwincnc project . Hard to say if similar approach is applicable to RK3588 with it's integrated Cortex-M0 core.

Until this is investigated, Remora can be used with RK3588 with an external MCU. It's SPI implementation is using bcm2835 library which will only work on RPi hardware. When porting Remora to UP Board, Mr.Bubbles rewrote this SPI code to use spidev (should work with RK3588 as well as any board with SPI kernel driver), however this implementation appears to have  realtime performance issues .

So finally, it leaves us with Ethernet. Will it work? Most likely, yes. Anyone already tried it? I don't think so.

Issue on boot

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

If there are any more slots available I'd give them a try.

Are the fingers on the Mesa card showing any sign signs of dirtiness\tarnish ?

Might be helpful if you could state the card you are using ?

Also it could be useful to download the card manual from Mesa and check that all the jumpers are in the correct place & such, something could have been dislodged. And also pay check the section of the manual that deals with the Leds.

Also the title of the thread doesn't really describe the problem, it's more an issue of the card not being detected.
A better title might have been Mesa XXXX not being detected, this would be more likely to get the attention of Pete from Mesa.
But whatever you do don't start a new thread. I've made a callout to Pete from Mesa to give advice, so hang in there mate.

Sorry for double message.

Will drag up mesa manual see if that has anything that can contribute, probably the operating lights but need to start somewhere

Shut it down, removed the mesa card, gave it the ole cartridge clean and tried it.
No change.
Checked all the files and everything seems to be in the locations it's looking for, again amateur hour here but highly interested as stated.

I'd try reseating the Mesa card, and giving things a bit of a clean.

This is the error
