I want more outputs.. can i connect this rs422 module
www.aliexpress.com/item/4000345846502.html
to some pins of p3 and connect a 7i84 sserial card? (I will config custom pinfile with sserial module)
7i84 can handle 29volts because my 24v power supply is not stabilized
and the voltage is between 26-29v.
What is a good p/ff1 starting value for a 3t boxed ways knee mill
with analog -10+10v bosch servos from 1992 with 1um resolution
from linear scales? Defauft values are p=1 ff1=1 but with fferror=10mm min_fferror=1mm throws easily error if i increase jog speed.
of cource i will do tuning with halscope but it will be easier if i had some start
p/ff1 values.
The enables from 7i33 work ok with the isp772t high side load switches
without seting something to pncconf.

QTDragon_HD Manual tool change (?) problem

Category: Qtvcp

Sorry for running straight to the forum, but I really need to get this machine back up...

I've switched to QTDragon_HD from Axis. I'm running 2.9.2 from the Deb ISO. Everything appears to be running. I've touched off a tool and am ready to run. I hit cycle start on my g-code (from Fusion 360) and the program runs a few lines, does a move and then stops on the line with "T4 M6". So fine, manual tool change but no pop up to say go. Just sits there.
  • I have the 3 manual tool change lines in qtdragon_hd_postgui.hal per the doc's. (and commented out in my original .hal)
  • qtdragon_hd_postgui.hal is being sourced from postgui_call_list.hal which I can see happening while running fm command line
  • I have commented out the "unlink" commands for the tool change lines (tried leaving them in too - no difference)

I don't see a loadusr -W hal_manualtoolchange component being loaded and I presume that QTDHD is handling this in python (since clearly the machine is waiting).

What am I missing?

I'm not quite sure what you mean with that.

I have included some further screenshots.
The offsets are set to the middle of the table & you can see by pics that the job is well within the bounds of the machine

Is there some other way to set them?
Please note also I believe there is no Y axis movement in line 105.

Well if it happens again please post the most info you can and I'll look again.

If you haven't disabled the 'blur' effect that might be why it shifts (with any dialog).
The blur is removed by default in later versions.

I don't see an overlap, but I have the latest unreleased updates.
A different stylesheet may help (press F12 for the editor/selector)

If you got linuxcnc from Debians official repository rather from linuxcnc's ISO/buildbot, then the version is very old and won't auto update.

Best way to control laser power with QtPlasmaC?

Category: Plasma & Laser

Scott,

I'm curious what the board you're using for the modulation signal is for and why can't you use pwm out directly? From what I gather from the Raycus manual, the modulation signal can drive the laser in a pulsed sense, or continuous. What does your modulation signal look like? I purchased the same boards as you to follow along.

Thanks

Probe Question

Folks,
Is there an easy tool touch/setter GUI for AXIS that is simple to set up and doesn't require troubleshooting for ages to get it running?
Something preferably something that has written setup instructions.

Thanks in advance

QTDragon_HD Touchoff routine: Touchoff failed

*sigh* Added the -d and restarted. Worked fine. Likely restarting did this, though I couldn't tell you why. the touch off was the 1st thing I tried when I brought the machine up the 1st time.

btw, were you aware that the _hd screen shifts when a tool is loaded and the overrides box overlaps the DRO box? Not a functional issue.

Thanks as always for your attention.

Running qtdragon_hd with the -d switch added in the INI and running from a terminal may give more context.
ie:
DISPLAY = qtvcp -d qtdragon_hd

What is the probe velocity setting set at?
Is the machine imperial or metric based?
Is it in g20 or g21 mode?

What version of linuxcnc are you using?

QTDragon_HD Touchoff routine: Touchoff failed

Category: Qtvcp

Could have sworn I had this working, but back from holiday and no joy. While using the touch plate for tool touch off:

"Touchoff routine: Touchoff failed: Probe retract failed: Command timed out: (30 second)"

I'm bringing up QTDragon_HD on 2.9.2 on a machine that was formerly Axis-based. I load a tool, set the params (Max Probe 1.5, Retract distance - tried things between .25 and 2.,  Z safe travel - I think this is supposed to be a clearance height for moving the spindle - set for 2.5 though I'm not sure this has context when using the touch plate). Machine and settings page in "IN" mode.

When I select "Touchoff" The Z axis descends until initial contact with the touch plate then stops until the timeout occurs. There is no retract or 2nd touch off. I put the machine back in manual mode and the z axis works normally.

I'm not sure where the G38 routine that Dragon is calling is located to try and pursue further. I have vague suspicion that this might have something to do with IN vs MM, but everything is currently showing IN.

Something simple I'm sure, but currently at a loss.

You can see here the turbocnc parameters that work. Pins being switched on a 2 and 4. So phase 1 hits both. Phase 2 hits pin 2. Phase 3 hits none. Phase 4 hits pin 4.

Servo Gripper Control

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

I have a 5-DOF robot based on the LinuxCNC Melfa example.  This will be driven with stepper motors open loop.

The gripper is driven by a RC style 180 degree servo motor.  How do you control the servo gripper from Linux CNC?

My CNC router uses a Mesa Ethernet card.  Is there a cheaper alternative for a hobby robot that works with LinuxCNC?

That looks more like motor miss wiring, is that a unipolar or bipolar motor and how many motor wires connect to driver/control box?
