"Thank you very much for the prompt response. I've already connected everything, but I can't get the spindle to run on LinuxCNC. Can you help me with the HAL code?"

Fresh install freezes when running glxgears

Category: Computers and Hardware

okay so when taking out the graphics card running glxgears works perfectly fine. with the graphics card inserted it still doesn't work at all.

I also tried to use the
vblank_mode=0
option but that also didn't help. So is the only possibility to get this to work to just not use a graphics card? i thought when using one the latency of the pc will drop because the motherboard is not that busy or is that wrong?

How to find the right Step Time/Step Space?

Category: PnCConf Wizard

The specifications miss the minimum step pulse high
time and direction hold time but this should work:

Steptime = 5000
Stepspace = 5000
Dirsetup = 130000
Dirhold = 130000

Note that the picture shows active low
step pulses so make sure you invert
the step outputs (LinuxCNC default is active high)

PWM/frequency signal as input to Mesa card

Category: Driver Boards

To use the VFD output signal you would need to have the 7I96S
input common (TB3 pin 12) connect to the VFDs input common
(VFD pin 1)

This would connect the drives input common to your 24V supply negative,
which may be undesirable for noise reasons. So it may be better to add an
optocoupler as you first suggested.

Motors do not work together

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Hello everyone, I am using two motors for x and y, a NEMA 17 and a NEMA 23, each with different drivers (A4988 and TB6600). They are powered by the same external laptop power supply and for logic 'estop out'. One motor functions perfectly fine, while the other does nothing. However, if I unplug one motor from the parallel port, the other motor starts working. I am unsure if this is a PC fault or if I should use separate power supplies. I'm not entirely sure where to start troubleshooting. The controllers are connected only through two power cables and one logic 5V connection, so I don't see how disconnecting one motor could affect the other.

Suitable encoder upgrade options

Category: Milling Machines

Well done on your score.

I think you'll find that if the encoder works at all, you don't need to be concerned with it being a little dodgy or imprecise.  Mill spindles generally don't need to be positioned quite as accurately as rotary axes for useable rigid tapping or ATC alignment.

Another thing... shaft encoders come in fairly 'standard' sizes, so it's not too hard to find pre-fabricated mounts.  Have a look around if you find you need something fiddly to mount to the head and you might find something online that'll save you some time.

Habe es gefunden!

LinuxCNC samt Erweiterungen etc. hat ja wirklich gute Manuals, Handbücher. Wie man da aber was finden kann und vielleicht findet, ist mehr als chaotisch.
