BaxEDM uses LinuxCNC for the EDM machine he builds and sells and as far as i know everything except the power source he makes readily available, although i never checked.
There are many other using it, but usually hard to find, try youtube.

see the description it has a link to a lengthy forum thread.

Thanks for your support. One thing I'm still unsure about is the speed of each axis. On my PC, it's limited to a maximum of 30. If I set it higher in the INI, it causes a following error, and that's a limitation when using servomotors that can operate at higher speeds.

If this is just a simple linear back-off it might be something more easily
done using external offsets as is commonly done for Plasma torch height
control.

Otherwise, If you search the forum for motion.adaptive-feed, you will find a number of people
trying the same scheme for EDM

I can fully appreciate the sentiment tommylight. I unfortunately still have to use windows in some capacity due to
work. Otherwise I would be running all Linux stuff. That said it is nice to have the ability to tell Micro$hit
" No you can't "

I have some old laptops still running Win95 and winxp, but no plans to ever use anything else from MicroS#aft.
-
RANT, skip at will.
I yap a lot against MicroS#aft as it is terrible in all possible ways, especially plugging stuff from Linux in Windoze and never ever admitting it, to secretly paying Linux projects, to never ever fixing memory issues inherited from WinNT and Win2K, to paying huge amounts of money to lie to people about Win costing less than Linux (yes, they did, a lot back in 2000's when Linux desktop started gaining traction), to paying Nowell for using Linux code in Win (Nowell had bough Suse Linux and both did this to cover their a$$ legally after SCO lost to IBM), etc etc etc .... i can go on for days.
But, win 3.1 was pretty usable and there was nothing "better" back then, Win95 was OK as much as it could be, so back then i liked and used them, OS2 failed miserably although it was much better, BSD and SlackWare and the likes were hard to install and make work, etc etc etc.... i can go on ... never mind.
The thing is, i hate MicroS#aft for not using that money to fix things, i hate VolksWagen for paying engineers to lie instead of to fix things, etc etc etc .... i could .. AHHH SHUT UP!!!
In short, humans are faked up! :)

Adaptive Feed Rate HAL example?

Category: HAL

I am only a week or so into LinuxCNC so please bear with me.  My ultimate goal is to use it for a wire EDM machine.  I have been able to get a simple XYZ "machine" running on Raspberry Pi 5 using the GPIO driving some LEDs that simulate step/dir signals to real stepper drivers.  My next goal is to add a signal input that will be used to control adaptive feed rate...ultimately to use it to back up the EDM stages when a short circuit is sensed.  I want to start slow...a single GPIO input bit sends a -1 value when asserted to command the reverse.  Does anyone know of a example HAL file that has includes adaptive feed setup?  TIA.

I just came across this video. There are some situations where I have to use windows. That said this could
be a great equalizer.
