ESP32/S2/S3 LinuxCNC Controller (6 axis hardware step gen), USB plug-and-play

Category: Computers and Hardware

Had the same issue, so it was easier to resolder the pins, but still did not work.
Had no time to test anymore, it is sitting on my desk here for quite some time, but i think i might give it a go these days.

Doubt this will be reliable, Tommy. Sure, prolly be spinning a motor on the benchtop and comm for 10~20min but most likely be failing more often than not. E.g. zero timing critical pthread/mutex//locks/semaphores/gives/takes nothing at all. Could get away without it in a parallel compute domain but in this case, it's all serialized runtime (locks/integrity mandatory).

Wouldn't be surprised this is the reason Wez abandoned the extra efforts that it needed.

Automatic Tool Changer

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Hello!!
I have implemented linear ATC. But what limits I have to set so that when file is running machine will not travel the area where Tools are planted. Machine only allows when MDI command for tool change has been given. How to set different working limits? What changes in .ini required?

Remora - ethernet NVEM / EC300 / EC500 cnc board

Category: Computers and Hardware

Let me be clear, I am referring to the .cpp that was extracted from the STM32F103RCT6.

Could you leave a copy of the nvmpg cpp on your github? I'm thinking about creating my own mpg but only with buttons and I would like to study the programming that was used in it to be the starting point.

i just went out and checked the hand torch that came with the machine and the electrode is spring loaded just like the new straight torch. so i think it is a blow back set up. they don't sell this one anymore and the new ones i think are all HF units. the new ones are not set up with the cnc options built in the units and are much cheaper than this unit. i seen a big price difference. i paid something like $550 for my unit.

Asrock Q1900M: Unexpected Realtime Delay, but Good Latency Values

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Well i figured this out, pretty strange but it turns out that there is a watchdog messege on dmseg that occures exactly every 1 minute and i had dmesg ouput on the serial port. Well apearantly this superio chip stalls when the serial port is used as anytime anything is written to that serial port there is a latency spike. Simply removeing the serial port console= line from the kernels cmdline fixed the issue.

So it would seam that on this machine writeing to the serial port blocks the parallel port for a bit, thats not too bad i can just use netconsole to monitor the system

Probe basic tool table setup

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Have read lathe user html. Pb has Standard mode and Master tool mode. I have manual tool change and want help with which mode to use and in what order and which touch buttons to use.  With the buttons SET MT X and SET MT Z my master tool (#1) sets the coordinates X and Z in the tool table to X0 and Z0, which is ok. How do I then get the length difference between tool #1 and tool 2 and tool n

Chances are this has a HF/HV start, not blow back.
But they are manageable for sure.

In Visual Code/PlatformIO in the upper right corner click on serial monitor, on the bootom part type help, that will show all the available commands, set the wifi mode, SSID and password, connect to that wifi.

i thought the air was what worked the torch with a blow back start? i really don't know too much about how the magic works. i just knew high frequency starts are bad from what i learned before. i thought the air flow pushed the contact point so the torch fires with a blow back start torch?
