The servodrive was orginally connected to j2 pin1 and pin2, but since the the 7i77 has only single ended output for the drive I need to connect it to j1 pin2. Is that correct?

I know Tom and I feel you..... I have been working for large corporations long enough to know that everything that started as a passionate creation by totally dedicated engineers, will be transformed into a ruthless money making machine as soon as financially driven managers take over, whose interest is only the quarterly results. And when that happens, ethics are often thrown overboard and customers are fooled by sugar coated stories written by marketeers. Many good companies have been destroyed that way. But I also learned that complaining about it is not going to help and will only result in frustration and negative energy. Hence my suggestion to stop the bashing and try to make the best out of it. Sending out a reminder every now and then about how things suck doesn't hurt, but personally I don't let it prevail, as it does not help.

1. add this to the [RS274NGC] section of your ini file:
    USER_M_PATH = ./mcodes

2. save your python script as eg 'M123' (possible numering is 100...199) to the 'mcodes' folder in your machine config directory and mark the file as executable

3.'M123' in Gcode should now execute the script.

Possibly the names don't match since you copied the folder with the dtb files and overlays.
It might be easier to add them manually in /boot/armbiEnv.txt
There you'll see "overlay_prefix=" and "overlays=", these should match with the filenames in /boot/dtb/rockchip/overlay/
So for example rk3588-uart6-m1.dtbo and rk3588-spi4-m1-cs0-spidev.dtbo it will be:
overlay_prefix=rk3588
overlays= uart6-m1 spi4-m1-cs0-spidev

And make sure that the overlays don't overlap each other, so don't activate therm all.

I believe I have all the jumpers set correctly and I'm supplying 5v with a benchtop supply.

7i92H:
Jumper w3,w4 are in the up position.
7i77:
Jumper w5 is in the left position.
Jumper w4 and  w12 are in the left position.

Hello,
Unfortunately the idea of debouncing the probe button didn't work either. I can press the emergency stop, switch the software off and on again, run the reference but nothing gets it working again, only closing Linuxcnc and restarting it. After that everything is back to normal.

Kind regards, Frank.

Some very valid points there, but i ain't stopping the Intel (and soon AMD) bashing, just check their CPU naming schemes! :) Unfortunately, i deal with PC hardware on daily basis (my relic from the past) and advising someone on what PC to get has become utterly exhausting, especially for laptops.
And i saw some test on Phoronix where Clear Linux has some very nice speed improvements, especially on new CPU's, so i am all for it.
Thank you.

This error most often happens when either 5V or field power is missing
from the 7I77, the cable jumpers on the 7I92 do not match the 7I77, or the 7I77
is jumpered for setup mode.
