So when do we get A.I. to replace the execs, and such? Not that I feel that it would make life any better.

Yes, but it's for the safety and security of the (cough) people. Oh, did I say that out loud?

I just realized that 7/16/2024 is probably the correct version date for 2.1.5 so it looks like the version number itself that’s displayed in the window title bar just wasn’t updated when 2.1.5 was created.

It shouldn't matter either way. I just want to know if this setup will work fpr my needs so I can go ahead with ordering the parts.

Stepper online drivers have a 24v and a 5v logic switch at the top. It needs to be 5v for the mesa

It actually was this switch. Now everything works fine.
Thank you all very much for your help!

help with millrun and/or custom Z-X-A(or C) lathe/machine

Category: Fusion 360

edit: just to share a bit of my progress: I found an old fusion support thread that suggested to use the doosan millturn fusion360 post processor and set "gotyaxis" to false everywhere. When I do that, and generate Gcode, it successfully does not include Y axis movements, however, I believe other changes are needed to align the gcode output to be compatible with linuxcnc and am struggling on where to start.I will attach this modified post processor, and attach a simple off center drilling gcode that I generated using it:

help with millrun and/or custom Z-X-A(or C) lathe/machine

Category: Fusion 360

Hello everyone, hoping someone in the community can help. I have a lathe that I modified to have the headstock be driven by a positional stepper motor, and have added a spindle on the cross slide WITHOUT a Y axis. Thus, I am looking for help getting a working processor that can generate gcode for 2d milling in this configuration, meaning I can do things like drill holes on the face of my stock off center.

What is the best way to go about doing this? Has anyone already made or used a working post processor for this? An old thread in fusion360 support said to find a post processor for millturn and remove mention of the Y axis so it only generates gcode without it - is that the right way to go about it?

Lastly, can someone verify if my kinematics are organized correctly in fusion360? My rotational/positional axis is along the Z axis and holds the stock, my spindle is on the cross slide (X axis) and points along the Z axis (attached image)

Hi,

For coleair lines and curves with curvature=0 (clothoid, spline that is in fact a line), i fused them to one piece of type line.
This seems to work better.

@GeckoWorks & @PCW - Thanks for pointing out the 'alternative' MPG connection situation.  Overview post updated; if my edit is unclear, please suggest some wordsmithing.

Alright so it turns out I can use sinking outputs since all the outputs go to a relais board and I can just give the common on the coils +5V and then switch them by sinking. That means I can use the 7i97t as my "main card" with ethernet connection to the pc and the 7i84D for I/O. The 7i73 in the control cabinet could then be connected using the adaptor talla83 shows in the video, right?

I think with that I am all set.
7i97t: connection to PC, 3 analog axis outputs, encoder feedback with linear scales, spindle output, 3 handwheel mpg inputs(uses 6 inputs), 10 inputs, 6 outputs
7i84D: 32 inputs, 16 outputs

A whole 7i96 is a lot of card, for the potential expansion of a stepgen, maybe in the future. All those FPGA cards have a 25 pin expansion slot which we mostly dont use (P1 on the 7i97).
I am pretty sure you can add a stepgen onto a couple of those pins with a bit of playing around in the MesaFlash utility. It looks like you could also use that to hook in a second SS for the 7i73.

Peter (Talla83) has done some excellent videos on how to edit the bitfile for the mesa cards, such as this one (In german, but Youttube does good tranlations subtitles.
