I had a look at a driver package for the card, bit of research came up with the correct PCI ID, and there was a utility for setting up the card, but it appeared to be a very very binary. Look if it works it works, but it would be interesting to know why lspci doesn't show a parallel port.

As Todd mentioned support gets added as the kernel matures.

Look for the ethercat thread, process is the same for as for the amd64 platform.

I have gone through the installation process and it completes without any errors.

A switch when loading the driver regarding the message, have the message on for debugging and another to just log the message ?

Honestly, as I said in my first post is it that hard to click on the message or just leave it popped up ?

I wasn't aware any log even existed.

Don't rely on logs, they are too often ignored and forgotten.

Prompts are good, but annoying.

Maybe the prompt could have a checkbox for "suppress this warning forever"

Maybe stepconf should just have a little checkbox that says "notify user if port not detected".

Thank you very much,i managed to move the motors, I don't have any cards or PC at the moment with Mesa and linuxcnc so I tried it via Mach3 and it works great, according to your suggestion, i just have to put in a stronger DC power supply like 80v and limit the drivers to 4a because of the bipolar connection. video in the attachment`` Cheers

Coming back to my CNC wood router after a good year off (controller PC hard drive died and I got busy renovating my house). I have a new hard drive, doubled the memory (16G), fresh and latest install downloaded last week from here (linuxcnc.org) and I have everything back 'moving and stopping'... except the spindle.

I have an old TB6560 3-axis, chinese controller board (Wantai) driven from my parallel port. It has the outputs for the 3 axes (yes - that is plural for axis - I looked it up) and a spindle on/off control output that I use to control a relay that switches the 120VAC to the Dewalt router.

Back in the 'old days' (when this system worked), there was a section just below the jog/home/tool touchoff buttons where I could turn the spindle on and off. It's not there any more. I've been trying to use Google Gemini and ChatGPT for help (and they are surprisingly helpful if the question is worded well), but I'm just not getting it to work.

I'm using steppers and configured my pins using StepConf. I set the pin for the spindle as parallel port pin 9. But I'm not seeing a [SPINDLE] section in the .ini file nor am I seeing any spindle references in the .HAL file. I can't control the spindle speed (it's a router), only whether it's on or off.

Anyone out there with a good idea of where to start?

Houston, we have a problem, i ordered the io port expander (mcp23017) in wrong package so28 instead of ssop28, and the zener diodes is missing from the order, and i missed the i2c port pullup resistors from the design this need a littlebit of workaround, but the outputs are working now (tbd 62783). Tested with 5v and 24v without load, i messed up 1 of the w5100s-evb-pico-s usb port by pulling the whole microusb inside out but now this programmed trough the SWD debug port, the positive side is i do not need to printing debug info in the usb serial port.

Do you have the servo driver manual?

Feast your eyes and marvel at the modern stupidity i was faced off with today, a new (2024) CNC plasma cutting machine using RS232 or plain old serial at 19200 baud to communicate with the PC, running windows 11 while machine controller running in 32 bit mode!!!
Hypertherm PowerMAX 65 attached to the same box as the PC, with the same DB9 connectors that were inadvertently plugged into the wrong places. Plain simple stepper drives and motors, THC with Ohmic probing, toroidal transformer, etc, or the usual.
RS232 is very flaky at the best of times, but today besides the win s#it, it worked after setting the baud rate and stop bit and flow control.

This setup works for me. My servo is a LICHUAN, so you need to install the caxis.comp and gn_userkins.comp components, create a remaps folder, and save the two ngc files there.

I do not mind as it is now.

Mesa 7i95T can do step/dir and encoders on one board.
And just to make sure, take some pictures of drive to motor wiring and post them here so we can confirm it is OK, preferably before powering on the drive!
