Thank you,
it seems there are some more on this board. So the best is send this card to Mesa and check on some more issues. Is it possible from europe, and how can i do this? I don´t will say that money don´t care but for me its important to have one card in stock.

Sounds like the 5V regulator (either A8498 or AP64350 depending on 7I76E version)
had been damaged.

I'm sorry for my unqualified wiring description. I try again
12V to TB1 -> 5 and TB3 -> 21
 GND to TB1 -> 8 and TB3 -> 24
W1 left-hand position
But the logic side won’t start.

VIN never powers the logic (Ethernet/FPGA) side.

The logic side gets its power from P3 (5V!)
or TB3 pin 21..24 (unregulated 8 to 32V)

VIN powers the field I/O sections processor

On my 7i76e card, it is not possible to power on the logic side over VIN. W1 is in left-hand position. I guess there is something broken after 24V accident.
If i connect 5V on logic side, the card work properly.
What can be broken here?

Problems with USB (Solved)

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

When I first started this thread I was only seeing an issue with bookworm and LCNC 2.9. The Mint and 2.8.4 where fine. But, the issue turned out to be a hardware issue (bad USB) connection that only seem to aggravate Bookworm. As soon as I get 2.9 on Bookworm fully working I'll be switching permanently. I need to get my M6 remap working. After that I think I will be good to commit. I'm also considering upgrading from the BAT1-J1800 + 6i25 + 7i76 to a ODroid H2+ + 7i76E.

7i76e spindle problem: It runs, but only after reconnecting ENA

Category: Driver Boards

Thanks so much for the help, that’s exactly what it was! I didn’t realise that was a possible issue. It’s all working perfectly now with m3, m4 going on the right direction. Thanks again!

7i76e spindle problem: It runs, but only after reconnecting ENA

Category: Driver Boards

Do you know what the exact wiring issue was? I am having this same problem and have tried endless combinations. I’m using a Altivar32 drive, but it’s as if the enable and direction switches on the 7i76e never switch off… I have to physically disconnect direction pin to get the drive to reactivate… Thanks!

If the ENA output is always on it may be the you have the polarity backwards.

Boxford 190VMC conversion with Mesa 7i96S

Category: Milling Machines

The 7i76e has two MPG inputs which is perfect for a lathe. With the right firmware the 7i96s should be able to do the same at the expense of some inputs. But being a lathe, you will have some spare stepgens that can be repurposed, so maybe PCW will have a solution.

Boxford 190VMC conversion with Mesa 7i96S

Category: Milling Machines

Hello

I'm starting a project to convert a Boxford 190VMC to LinuxCNC. I'm hoping this thread will log my progress (although I expect it to be slow).

I've ordered a Mesa 7i96S and 7i84 (I'd have preferred a 7i76E but Mesa told me that new stock of these was still a long way off).

Any tips or hints would be great.

I have what is hopefully a quick question...

If I install the Mesa cards in the machine is it possible to wire it up and program it in such a way that the machine can still be operated in manual mode, even when the PC running LinuxCNC is disconnected?

I.e. The machine control panel has manual jog buttons for each axis and FWD and REV buttons for the spindle. Could these be connected to digital inputs on the Mesa board and the FPGA programmed to execute the appropriate actions? Another digital input could perhaps be used to toggle between manual and cnc modes?

Best regards,
Matt

7i76e spindle problem: It runs, but only after reconnecting ENA

Category: Driver Boards

Sorry, I don't remember exactly - I think some pins were incorrectly connected on the TB4 connector. But I do not remember exactly which ones.
