Debian 10 Dependencies

isent it a little early to get to Linuxcnc 3.0 Debian 10
as it is 2.8 not published jet and Debian 9 will be on for some time

I got it running in simulation mode on latest Raspbian Buster yesterday.. VTE is not referenced anywhere in gmoccapy.py, so you can delete the "import vte" line.
I also had to disable "player" widget, I didn't bother with it since I dont use sound effects in gmoccapy.

I just pushed a fix to 2.8 branch. I removed the unused import statements pango and vte. The player si still there, but should not cause a crash if gst is not installed.

release is now 2.3.5.1

I can not get past the dependency on python-gtksourceview2.
It is depreciated as far as I can tell.

Hello, I too may have boarded early on the Buster train. New custom built Ryzen AMDGPU hardware, Fresh Debaian 10 install. Added the RT Kernel. Need dual YY homing and believe that is rolled into linuxCNC v2.8. Set stanza up to grab:
deb buildbot.linuxcnc.org/ stretch master-rtpreempt

Can not get past the same dependencies.
The following packages have unmet dependencies. some of which exist but I have new versions:
linuxcnc-uspace : Depends: libboost-python1.62.0 but it is not installable
Depends: python-gtksourceview2 but it is not installable
Depends: python-vte but it is not installable
Recommends: hostmot2-firmware-all but it is not install

Is it best I wait for 2.9 to be added to buildbot or track down a manual install and try to do a little --force install magic?

Have you tried the sid one for python gtk sourceview?

python-vte is not needed for gmoccapy, but for gscreen!

Do you need to use debian buster? I do use MINT 18.2 actually.

First, Thank you for taking the time to respond. Secondly for those landing here from a web search as I did I want to say I have been using linuxCNC 2.6 wrapped into Ubuntu for several years and its rock solid. My issues arrives from me developing a machine for a user base that will need v2.8 or greater (skipping 2.7) and already have a heavy Debian OS install base in their enterprise with new systems becoming the norm. So mostly it is up to me to figure this out, I am in no way unhappy with this awesome product.

Currently I have another a partition set with linux mint 19.2 and ran into the some install issues there too. I wrestled with it for a couple of nights with a manual kernel compile and linuxCNC compile. In the end I won but was hoping the all new and shiny Debian install would be more seamless and work with buildbot. I will do as you suggested for python tonight and see if that gets my past the three dependancies.
